Hampers!

Is anyone putting together hampers as gifts? I’m thinking of doing them for pretty much everyone this year. The Works has loads of wooden boxes so I think I might use those to package everything and spend autumn/winter evenings decorating them.
Thought it might be handy to have a thread for sharing themes and whatnot!

shameless bookmarking for later 🎄

checkingforballoons · 18/08/2018 14:58

Grin I’ve just found packs of 50 little organza bags in assorted colours for £3 on eBay. Think I’ll get some of those for tiny things like sweets and jewellery. I love unwrapping things!

This is a lovely idea. I wonder if I can’t be organised enough to do this 😂 I mean, I have a 3 month old and am going back to work FT, what do you think my chances are?!

checkingforballoons · 18/08/2018 15:52

Ah, see mine is starting school next month!

I did mini hampers last year. I gave bath stuff, hot chocolate, ginger biscuits, peppermint creams, a small gift (jewellery/toy/gift card). Everyone loved them

Nanasueathome · 18/08/2018 16:30

I love hampers as gifts

I'm doing a small 'nails' hamper for my 12yr old DD, it will include a few bottles of nail varnish, nail files, polish remover/wipes, nail art/stick-ons, hand cream.

Im doing an adults Xmas Eve box for my two friends. We meet, just the girls, on Xmas Eve morning for brekkie and present swap each year. So in a box I've bought them both some nice next pjs. I'm going to put a nice mug and hot chocolate bits, miniature Bailey's etc. Then magazine- crappy take a break lol then one good one to match their interest (sport/interior design) then some bath bits and chocolate/ biscuits. Hope they like it!

I did movie night hampers last year. I put in an amazon voucher to buy a dvd, microwave popcorn, cardboard popcorn boxes, hot chocolate sachets, bags of mini marshmallows, candles that smelt like popcorn, packets of sweets, fluffy socks for each member and a fluffy throw to snuggle up with. They seemed to go down well.

Trying to think of a different theme for this year but I want something to suit the whole family.

checkingforballoons · 19/08/2018 15:25

What about a ‘games night’ hamper? Pack of cards, book of card games, some sort of board game, snacks, maybe a plastic trophy or two for the winners? Grin

How much were your hamper boxes? Do you have a link?

kirta · 19/08/2018 16:04

I do these every year! Just finished a batch of Christmas chutney. One of the hampers I do is a cheese lovers one. Nice cheeses (Aldi!), crackers and the chutney!
Would love some more inspiration though.

kirta · 19/08/2018 16:06

A coffee lover hamper is good too. Some specially ground beans, a lovely mug, maybe a syrup (or not!), a travel mug etc

Creasey31 · 19/08/2018 16:10

🎄 great ideas to consider , thank you Smile

FuckyDuzz · 19/08/2018 16:12

Ooo I love a good hamper
In the past I’ve done;

Night in hamper (for couples generally)
DVD
Popcorn
Mini bottle of wine each
Some Doritos & dip
A candle
Bath bomb
Bed socks

Pamper hamper (for teenage niece)
Bath bomb
Face mask
Candle
Fancy drink (sparkling j2o or something)
Nail polish
Eye mask
Chocolate

Baking hamper (kids)
A mixing bowl as the actual hamper
Then I can’t remember exactly but lots of baking accessories and a mini baking recipe book

Art hamper (for kids)
Loads of art stuff from wilkos or home bargains

And one of my go to presents is a nice cup with a sachet of hot chocolate, mini tube of marshmallows and a mini baileys in

kirta · 19/08/2018 16:19

Bottle of port in cheese one too!

kirta · 19/08/2018 16:20

fucky Love those!

Moonflower12 · 19/08/2018 16:23

Place marking

jo10000 · 19/08/2018 17:16

Hampers can end up being quite expensive, though great fun. Last year I scaled it back and did ... In a jar. So Spa in a Jar, Travel Afar in a Jar (luggage label, tissues, sweets, wetwipes), Star in a Jar (bedsocks, sweets, torch, hot chocolate), Treats for Grandma in a a jar... You get the idea!

SnuggyBuggy · 19/08/2018 17:19

I always used to do a hamper for my late DGF, I wish I had someone to do one for

tiddledpink · 19/08/2018 19:10

@FuckyDuzz I love the baking hamper idea for kids! Will be doing this for DNeice.

Adapting this slightly and thinking about a pizza making one for DS.
I'm thinking:
Pizza tray rather than a bowl.
Pizza Base mix.
Apron / chefs hat.
Novelty pizza slicer.
Small jar of pizza sauce.
If I can find one then a book of pizzas / recipes suited to kids.
Chocolate pizza so he has something to eat.
Voucher for pizza out.

Great hamper ideas - I’ve done a Gardner’s one in a trug- but could use a large pot I guess- with seeds and gloves and a kneeler and a string thing and some hand cream and a wee bath soak too.

Also- a bird lovers one with a bird feeder and fat balls and a wee bird book and notebook to record birds to the garden.

checkingforballoons · 19/08/2018 20:44

I think I’m going to go with these:

I am doing two hampers this year. A make up one for DD and a star wars one for DS. I buy stuff for DDs all year starting in jan sales and as well as make up I include face wipes, bath bombs etc. I did DS a “Marvel” one a few years ago and he loved it, and a “Pringles” another year. Last year he got a “Kingsman” one which he loved, but was far too specific and worked out stupidly expensive. A lot of the Star Wars stuff this year is from the Toys for a pound website, and I have ordered some Star Wars ribbon from eBay to dress it with, and will order some Christmassy cellophane in a few weeks. I also cheat slightly and I buy a pull bow for each hamper from the local florist.
