Healthier Christmas Cooking

Love Christmas and all it's goodies, how we as I have no willpower and cakes and biscuits and all the other goodies would be hoovered up pretty quickly I wondered if anyone else makes healthier treats. I'm not talking about those horrible balls made out of dates 'for sweetness' or anything made with dates for that matter!

I do make a no sugar banana bread which is a little healthier but given the amount of bananas it's not that healthy!

I want to enjoy the festivities but I don't want to be packing on the lbs for it.

What do you make that's a healthier version of something lovely?

Chestnuts! Naturally low fat but flipping delicious and take ages to eat so keep your hands busy😁 I score them and boil for ten mins, flipping lovely.

Slimming world have good tips for making healthy roasts so you could apply these to Christmas dinner if you want? For me personally, although I love Christmas and all the build up, I only let myself indulge in Christmas food: chocolates, cheese, baked good etc for 3 days from Christmas Eve til Boxing Day and the rest of the time I eat "normally". Just as Christmas doesn't have to be about spending a fortune, it doesn't have to be about over-indulging for the whole of December either. TBH I think you'll struggle to find equivalent healthy alternatives of things like mince pies, maybe just accept that they'll be around, but set your own limits e.g. allow yourself one a week? Or buy/make stuff that can be frozen and freeze it straight away so you have to plan in advance when you want to eat it, rather than giving in to temptation and the need for instant gratification?
