Inspired by a recent camping thread, I thought this might be the topic where people would appreciate my FABULOUS Christmas related idea

Following on from the success of camping in our garden as our Summer Holiday this year, I give you...

CHRISTMAS CAMPING

I am planning to put my tent up in the garden again in December and decorate it with Christmas blankets, cushions, fairy lights, a heater, hot chocolate and tinsel tasteful decorations (which I will keep well away from the heater!)

It will be my Grotto in the Garden and I will be able to use the house WiFi to watch Christmas films in it. I could also do my wrapping in it, listening to Christmas music and troughing mince pies

I am beyond excited. DH did this face Hmm but I think you like minded people might appreciate it...

The most likely reality...

Erm, carbon monoxide?

ExileOnMNStreet · 10/08/2018 14:22

Yes I know WeShould, I'm not going to light a barbecue or gas heater in my tent. I have electric heated throws or camping heater. And fairy lights. I might need to consider my electricity bill though!

I love this!
Can I ask what tent you have?
I've got one with 3 'pods' might have a 'craft station in one, hot chocolate station then a Christmas film pod.

Next We do have a big one with bedrooms but I can't put it up easily and it's too big for the garden but the thought of a wrapping room and a film room is very very tempting!

We have a couple of easier up, smaller dome types so I was going to use the five berth one which should be suitably cosy...

I'm off to google Christmas fairy lights for the guy ropes, do we think flashing would be too tacky or has that ship already sailed? I prefer the word kitsch myself Wink

I have a caravan - I'm now pondering its potential .........

I go actual camping at Christmas time (in a campervan though as camping in a tent in the middle of our winters would probably not be good.) We go the last weekend of November with our camping club. We arrive on Friday, decorate the vans with fairy lights and projection lights. We stay on a site with a clubhouse type room and turn it into a grotto with big decorations that different members bring. On Saturday afternoon we set up a hot chocolate station and have a kids party. Santa arrives and each child gets a specially chosen gift. Afterwards we turn on the snow machine outside and the kids play in that so Santa can leave in peace. Later that night we all head off for a Christmas dinner in a hotel, then come back to the clubhouse for a singsong and drinks. It's a great way to kick off the Christmas season. Grin
