My ds 6 would love something like this, but most stuff I've seen doesn't look great. Has anyone got their dc spy stuff and it's lasted more than 5 minutes?

The Science Museum has a fingerprint kit and Thames and Kosmos has a kit called 'Master Detectives' but they're more detective kits rather than spy kits. My DS had a periscope which he loved.

I made a spy kit for my dc last Christmas. I got an old briefcase from eBay and got a decal saying "top secret" also from eBay and stuck it on. I filled it with a load of things - a book about doing codes, a pen recorder, some night vision goggles, some disguise bits, glasses with mirrors in to see behind you, a set where you can make a door alarm, pens for writing in invisable ink. Most of the things I got from eBay or Amazon marketplace for a few pounds (But delivered from China, so took ages to arrive). It worked well.

We’ve had some detective stuff, more than spy stuff.
During our Secret Seven phase we had invisible ink (lemon juice) with a dip pen, a finger print kit (powder brush, baby powder and sellotape) and a code wheel for deciphering secret messages. All home made.
What I think is worth spending a bit on are walkie talkies (kids ones are rubbish), binoculars (ditto), and a table top magnifying glass. All of these are still going strong.
We have see-behind-you-sunglasses but they’re not uv safe so not really suitable outside.
Tiger have fake moustaches.
Mine would love camera spy watches but they don’t have the emotional maturity yet (they were hatching hillarious plots to secretly film their cousin doing a poo Hmm) and I wouldn’t take a chance on any listening devices it’s hard enough to watch my language when they’re actually in the room Maybe stuff that breaks after 5 minutes is a built-in safety measure Grin

I love these ideas for a home made kit!! I will be looking into making one for him.

Thank you!

You could hide it too and give him clues to find it.
