Hampers?

I’m thinking of doing hampers for my parents and their partners, I think I could save £50 for each.

I have a few ideas of what to put in them so far:

-Homemade treats
-wine
-framed picture of the grandkids

What else can I put in them?

Some Christmas food treats, like fancy crisps, chocolates only available then.

Mine liked seeds to plant in garden with grandkids.

We got dad sloe berry plants which he was pleased with.

Something cosy, socks or gloves.

Jars with ingredients for cookies or cakes.

Photo calendar or diary.

Tea lights and bath smellies.

I love a hamper. I suppose it depends on what they like and go from there.

Get the kids to make some decorations to go in, like a personalised bauble to Nanny perhaps??

A nice festive smelling candle/diffuser
Christmas photo booth prop kit
Decorated by kids homemade biscuits, Xmas themed gingerbread men? Or reindeers?

A Santa 🎅 hat for each of them
Christmas mugs/ socks/ ratings for ladies or ties for me (Poundland is good for this type of stuff)

I think it's a great idea I'm sure they'll love it

If you can get hold of the woody straw filling stuff it really lifts a hamper!

I think the key with a hamper is to really think about the recipient otherwise it can feel a bit generic. So not just wine, but a wine they like, etc

It all adds up very quickly, even though hampers are often touted on MN as a budget gift.

Having a theme can help with ideas. I made a cheese hamper for my aunt’s birthday with a selection of cheeses, a quince jelly and a chutney, a sipping wine, a copy of Michel Roux’s Cooking with Cheese
, crackers, dried fruit, walnuts and fresh grapes.

I did a bird watching one for my df last year, with a bird feeder and fat balls that the dc made, book of birds, a kids pair of binoculars (he has good ones so these are for whichever grandchild he has visiting), whiskey and nibbles which included penguin bars and “bird seed” for humans. We marked a couple of birds in the book that we had looked up with bird bookmarks the dc made.

But you really do need to have a feel for the recipient. My fil would be happy with a bottle of whiskey but would probably be a bit meh about the hamper.

I’ve decided to do the same!

So far I’ve gone with:
Aromatherapy candle
Personalised Xmas bauble
Chocolates
Posh biccies
Bottle of wine suited to each couple
Savoury biscuits like cheese twists

Not sure what else to put in there? Trying to think of something else that would be appreciated... I think I need to have a look at Etsy or something... ?

My brother is really into cooking so ideally I’d like to get him some things from the local Italian grocery shop like pasta and olive oil etc...

Love this idea though.
