Last Christmas with a 'believer'?

I think this might be the last Christmas with a DC who believes in SC. I got some quite pointed questions tonight and I don't think my answers were convincing. Carrots, mince pie, milk all laid out for SC very enthusiastically, this might the last time. I suppose I would be able to stop sneaking around filling stockings in the middle of the night, but at the moment, Xmas Sad Partly because I know how much I wanted the magic to be real as a child, even when it seemed unlikely.

Me too. I will be very sad indeed.

This might be it for us too. DS2 is 8 now, judging by the other two next year might be when the questions start. I'm hoping we get one more year of believing though, not ready to have them all grown up enough to stop, I'm sure it won't feel the same!

I didn't think we would make it to this year with ds9 but he's still hanging on in there. I think this was the last year although we'll still put all the santa stuff out regardless.

DS is 9, started asking a few pointed Qs recently, but after a very clever phone call from FC (my brother, who is in my phone as F.C. along with a google picture), who knew an awful lot about him, and getting pretty much everything he’d asked for, I think he’s veering back to the “believe” camp.

I also have a DD, 6, who believes it all, hook, line and sinker.

When I was growing up we were told you only get a stocking as long as you are a believer and that stopped too many pointed questions or anyone letting the cat out of the bag to younger siblings. I wasn’t sure until I was 11 (naive) and In fact, we all got stockings until we had our own DC. Wink

One cousin said he didn’t believe in F.C. and laid a trap involving a pin and a balloon attached to his door. He got coal that year- so a cautionary tale.

My ds is 12 and whilst I know he doesn't really believe he still goes along with it all and is just as excited as his younger siblings.

Same, my son (9) has asked many questions which I’ve managed to explain away. Not sure how long it’s gonna last. Maybe another year.

holidayparkquestion · 25/12/2017 13:47

My eldest doesn't believe. We still sneak the stockings and leave mince pies!

We always will :)

OutandIntoday · 25/12/2017 13:50

Just because they don't believe doesn't mean they can't still enjoy the rituals- we call it the magic of christmas and get the pleasure from the tradition. DC still love it.

We had this year the first with DD knowing "the truth". We still did most of the things we always did apart from visiting Father Christmas, she still met him during a day out and at her dance school's party though.

She wrote a letter with her wishes, her FC gifts came in a different paper and also the stocking is from him. She plans what to leave out for him (processo with chocolate for him (thank you) and marzipan with water for Rudolph and the others) and has tons of fun and def loves the whole time.

It is as magical and fun as you decide to do it. We included her more in the preparations and I included her specifically into the charity act we do each year.
