Only four of us for Christmas dinner this year so haven't had to buy a lot to be fair but I'm well chuffed!
Got beef from Morrisons for £8, partner got all the veg from Tesco this morning after his night shift - 29p each. Then for all the treats and nibbles etc I've been to the co-op and used all my points saved up during the year.
I had a broken boiler, and the car failed it's MOT in the last month, so I've had to pay out £100s. It felt nice not to have to do a big shop on top of all that (small things lol). Merry Christmas!

Thats excellent! Obviously not the car/boiler stuff. But bargain!

Mine cost me £35. Saved all our Sainsbury's points over the year and ended up with £130 so the £35 was just on top of that. MIL (bloody love the woman) is bringing the bulk of the alcohol and DP's brother and sister and their families are doing champagne like drinks and some home baking. Quite nice to keep the costs down. If everyone chips in and you save your supermarket points it can be done quite economically!

I'm picking all mine up from thelocal junk food cafe tomororw evening.

So...free. who knows what we will get!

Brandnewstart · 23/12/2017 15:05

That's sounds like it could be lots of fun meal wise sofa Smile

That’s amazing!

I was doing quite well until I erm, bought a drone. Bastard aisle of dreams in Lidl Hmm

MrsHathaway · 23/12/2017 15:27

Using points is brilliant. We used to get the savings stamps over the year as well, so our "big" Christmas shop could cost almost no actual money.

By contrast, today I've supported local businesses by spending £25 actual cash on a ham joint at the butcher's (born, bred and slaughtered locally) Blush

Brandnewstart · 23/12/2017 16:42

Oh I have bought absolutely too many presents for the kids (no drone though!) we save all year at work though so that helps.

Great news! when money was really tight we used our Tesco points for a few years to buy our Christmas food shop, felt really good to get that bit for free!

Brandnewstart-
Nah its pretty standard what the supermarkets overstock on this year. There will be a full christmas roast for sure.

Brandnewstart · 24/12/2017 12:04

Lovely sofa. Hope you have a great day!

All mine inc nibbles cost £55

Littlelambpeep · 25/12/2017 23:12

I had a £50 gift voucher and £25 in points so got a great deal off too. Yipee for us all

AdoraBell · 25/12/2017 23:21

Well done 👍

Hope you’ve all had a great Christmas with your frugal spends. If I could have faced the supermarket with DH I would have used all my Sainsbury’s points. I decided to keep them for potential lean times in the coming year.
