Can we talk potatoes and slow cooker please?

Any advice gratefully received. Have a huge number of people coming here boxing day... I have my buffet menu all planned but because of the large number I want to add new potatoes to the breads (to make sure everyone has enough to eat!)

Rather than faff about roasting them or boiling them at the last minute, has anyone cooked little new potatoes in a slow cooker?

I had this vision of buttery soft new potatoes that everyone raved about but even googling doesn't really throw up any answers. I want to be able to just shove them in and forget about them. Do I need liquid? Can I just add butter?

Thanks in advance Xmas Smile

I know it’s not what you asked but I cooked baked potatoes in the slow cooker yesterday and they were the best baked potatoes I’ve ever had. Soft and velvety, not floury and dried out.
I rubbed them in olive oil and salt, 1 hour on high to warm everything up then on low for the afternoon.

Little potatoes are next on my list to try, presumably you would do them much the same?

Lady must just go for it...thank you... was it just olive oil and salt you added?

Yes that was all, just rubbed them with a drop of olive oil and a bit of salt then straight into slow cooker. I did line it with foil because I didn’t want to scrub it if there was any mishaps!

Perfect, thanks Lady, I'm going to do them this way and reduce the cooking time somewhat. They'll be fine I'm sure as food can hang around in a slow cooker!
