Help! I need a gift for my nephew aged 5 who has everything! Bought him a gruffalo dressing up costume but just found out he already has one.

Budget is about £20. Likes Spiderman etc but has loads of figures already.

Grateful for any suggestions.

A book.

A personalised thing.

A baking set.

A tent/wig wam.
Hula hoop.
Spiderman pyjamas, or duvet set.

Lego - always a winner in our house

MarmaladeAtkinsX · 20/12/2017 18:52

The (Zuzu) fish are fun, you could get a few, great for bath times.

my dd 5 loves busy books (book with playmat and figures) there's loads in tkmaxx, whsmiths or supermarket Inc superheroes.

the supertato books or anything by Sue Hendra. alternatively the dinosaur who pooped Christmas is popular with dd.

smiggle crap - there's boyish designs in there.

playdough - I hate it but dd loves it. can get superhero sets too.

annual for this year

Lego either plain bricks or a set.they do a few Spiderman or superhero ones. the mixels are good for that age as they are simple small builds.

clothes - maybe a jumper or t-shirt that looks like a superhero costume - supermarkets or h&m are pretty good. or just character clothes - my dds loved that sort of thing.

sticker books

Robert Sabuda pop up books are really lovely. We have Alice in wonderland and Peter Pan and they are a firm favourite!

Our 6yo loves snap circuits (I think the starter set is £25). Hexbugs are fun too, though they eat batteries!

Stompythedinosaur · 20/12/2017 22:44

Stomp rocket
Butterfly garden
Name plate for his room
Bow and arrows
Bucket stilts

parrotonmyshoulder · 20/12/2017 22:51

A voucher for local cinema chain, wrapped with a cinema treat bag (popcorn, crisps, sweets, drink) - tho check with the parents first if you don't know already re allergies or what he is allowed

Iizzyb · 20/12/2017 23:40

Oi dog/oi cat books are a favourite in our house currently & my 5yo ds is loving a paw patrol toy which is a garbage/recycle truck with a dog in (obv!) there were a few different vehicles in the shop & within your budget. Also imaginext toys - batman etc there is a helicopter & a penguin car which I think will be within budget too x big hard case of crayola felt tips went down a treat too

Littlelambpeep · 20/12/2017 23:41

Zoobs

OutandIntoday · 20/12/2017 23:47

Fabric pens and a plain white pillow case, tshirt and pants. Hours of fun- my dc made personalised christmas pants!

Saladtongs · 21/12/2017 01:05

Cinema vouchers
Soft play vouchers
voucher or Tickets to a theme park or zoo

123bananas · 21/12/2017 01:12

I was going to say vouchers or tickets to a place or event too. Something that will leave a great memory.

Failing that a big cardboard box, some sheets, long cardboard tube and other crafty stuff. Build a pirate ship or rocket, decorate it and go sailing on the high seas/through space together for an afternoon of adventure. Time spent together having fun can be worth more than that money can buy.

Anything craft is brilliant for this age group! Wilko have a brilliant selection and even a messy mat for £1 in case the parents are like me and have a panic over mess.

Great for motor skills and hours of enjoyment.
Not enough kids do craft nowadays.
Don't get me wrong, my 6yr old dd loves her iPad and toys etc but loves nothing more than making stuff, getting messy and creative and you can get a lot of stuff for your budget op.

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 21/12/2017 07:26

The fabric pens and plain items are an amazing idea. I'm stealing that for the future!! Stomp rockets are fab too

EekThreek · 21/12/2017 09:50

If he's got everything, can you take him out for the day instead? I've asked family for 'experiences' for the kids this year - we moved recently and realised just how much tat they have already - I don't want to add to the piles of toys they already don't play with but do fall out over 😒

DB is taking them to the safari park, my mum has paid for a family ticket to the zoo, and other GPs are taking them to the cinema/theatre and for lunch. For me, the memories of the time spent will last so much longer than the present they open.

CrimbleCrackers · 21/12/2017 14:00

Thanks for the ideas.

His family have money and would be snooty about a cardboard box and pens etc Sad Also incredibly over protective so a day out with him would be impossible - even if he could be prised away from a screen which seems to be their babysitter of choice Sad Poor kid.
