I have "The Fear"

That nagging feeling in the pit of your stomach that tells you you have forgotten something of extreme importance. Like when you go shopping for the first time with your shiny new baby and realise said baby is still parked outside the shops while you have walked half way home.

I'm sat doing a shopping list and I just know I'll miss something completely obvious. Anyone else? Just me!

Crackers here too!

The pulling kind Xmas Grin

TheImprobableGirl · 20/12/2017 22:31

I added a late rennie/gaviscon to my list earlier! Along with plenty of batteries like a pp, and kitchen roll, and baby wipes

I second going through the medicine cabinet. DH is ill and inevitable that he will use up all the cold remedies so when (not if) I get ill probably on Sunday, there will nothing left (except muuuuch wine!) for me Grin

LyannaStarktheWolfMaid · 20/12/2017 23:40

Alka Seltzer!

doodlejump1980 · 20/12/2017 23:45

More sellotape

gingergenius · 21/12/2017 00:16

Also putting zig flora on my Christmas list. Mainly to Fox inscrutable children who refuse to me moved by my wails of Prosecco-less doom.

dontquotemeondailymail · 21/12/2017 08:45

Baby wipes!!! Thank you ImprobableGirl SmileSmile

fromtheshires · 21/12/2017 08:57

Cocktail sticks!

IamChipmunk · 21/12/2017 16:30

I've just added butter to my shop for tomorow! Thanks!
My strategy is to get a shop delivered tomorow with the 'basics' and then do an early dash to Sainsburys for the stuff I want to choose myself on Sat morning (and get anything i forgot to add to the shop!!)

BadTasteFlump · 21/12/2017 16:36

Well I've just realised I have no candles for my candelabra - still time though Smile

Last year I was half way through cooking Christmas dinner when I realised we'd used all the eggs up making egg nog for breakfast - so no yorkshire puddings Xmas Shock. This year I've ordered 24 just in case Xmas Blush

To factor in DS being sent home from school with a sick bug, thus wiping out our only child-free day tomorrow when we were going to assemble his big present

Monr0e · 21/12/2017 18:00

spiderlight hope you're DS is better soon

Can you assemble in another room? and sit with your back against the door

spiderlight · 21/12/2017 18:27

It might come to that! Going to do what we can once he's in bed tonight.

Zaphodsotherhead · 21/12/2017 18:29

Lemons
Garlic
Toilet Rolls
Something on my list that looks like 'Sawbry Nittles', but I think might be 'savoury nibbles'.

Annabelle4 · 21/12/2017 18:30

Olive oil
Baileys

elQuintoConyo · 21/12/2017 18:45

Which MNer is going to find a dropped shopping list that says Zig Lora and try to decode it? Grin

Bathroom stuff. Make sure you're not going to run out of: loo roll, toothpaste, lady's necessities Wink , handwash.

Kitchen stuff: washing up liquid, binbags, foil/baking paper/clingfilm, washing up sponges, scouring pads, Marigolds (in LARGE size too so the men can't wriggle out of helping!), dishwasher tablets, microfibre cloths, Vanish for the inevitable stains.

General: batteries batteries batteries, candles, lighter/matches.

A friend has a box (printer paper box from work, so decent size) that she covered years ago in wrapping paper. As her dc unwrap stuff, she checks the wrapping for any extras (instructions, gift card, funky pencil or what have you) then chucks the paper in the box. When you look at photos of her dc, they aren't being photobombed by a black binbag! Genius.

Keep in a drawer with all other the handy stuff (batteries, matches...) bottle opener, screw drivers to open pig-awkward battery compartments in toys, scissors to cut off plastic tags...

Where people write tags for dc's gifts, write what they received on the tag and keep them together. Much easier when writing a thank you card - or a whatsapp message, or via Skype etc - to be able to say "Thanks Aunty Jean for the Tardis slippers" rather than something impersonal and generic.

Oooh i'm getting excited for Christmas! I have been prepared for a week and i am dying to see ds open his gifts!
