Hello all,

I have an emergency foster care placement , she is 6 months old and I have nothing for her for Christmas!

What would you recommend for a 6 month old that I can get easily .. slightly considered as it's so late In the month and We can't go out shopping, so something that we can get delivered before Xmas 😩

She arrived with nothing so it's extremely overwhelming looking at possibly things to get the little pumpkin... my truly amazing family have already gone out and got clothes for her but really need " fun" toy ideas that will make her feel involved , but not over whelming!

I am normally be very calm about this sort of thing but I think this current foster placement has caught me off guard so need someone to give me ideas!

Thankyou

I was also going to suggest the emergency foil blanket! Costs about £2 and my baby thought it was the best thing he'd ever seen at that age!

My dd loved one of those activity triangle things at that age! It barely gets used now, if you’d like it I’m happy to post it on to you Smilesuch a lucky little girl to be with people who want to make her Christmas special 😥

Mine loved their taggie blanket and the galt wooden pop up toy. Also Lamaze toys are nice for the buggy.

But I would also say make some memories, a photo album you can fill with funny things she did written down for her to look back on. My dds are 9 and 5 abd they love hearing what they were like as cheeky babies.

Those 'hide and squeak' eggs have been a firm favourite in our house for years. Theyre brilliant.

Hide and squeak eggs are brilliant, my dd got them at 3 Months and still loves them.

memories, photos, mementos etc. I would take photographs and make an album of baby's first Christmas. Perhaps a casting of their hand and foot?

Seconding this ^^

The Nuby teething ring toys go down very well with my 5 1/2 month old- super cheap and can even be delivered on Asda online food shop. Or Amazon prime etc.

And the Toomies eggs are great!

I got my hide and squeak eggs for 7.50 in the entertainer about a week ago. Keep in mind they are closed Christmas eve though x

BLUESEAPARADISE · 19/12/2017 17:28

Thankyou I have just ordered the eggs as well!

I will definitely be taking lots of photos as I completely understand having them for memories and for the future for her to look back on when she is older!:)

Would this work as both a present and a memento?

At that age my boys liked their baby mirror, soft-touchy feeling books, Lamaze toys (vaguely remember their dragon being particularly popular!) and little shakers they could just about grasp. Also it might be a bit late to manage this, but maybe a personalised stocking for her to use future Christmases?

OP - people like you really warm my heart. I am a social worker - retired now but sit on permanence panels. I would say anything that creates memories further down the line and promotes bonding and development will be perfect. Lots of cuddles would be top of my list. Have a lovely Christmas.
