christmas dinner - microwave

I always cook Christmas dinner at home but this year am cooking it at mums as she needs to be at home for health reasons. she has a small counter top oven thing and a microwave. We don't own a microwave so not very familiar with them. I am going to cook the turkey the day before (always do this so no issue), and will reheat the red cabbage and do the sprouts on the hob, along with the gravy. DH is going to attempt roast potatoes in the wee oven - not sure if it will get hot enough - which leaves me with pigs in blankets and parsnips, both of which I normally roast.
Can I microwave? Fry?

If you only have a microwave to work with. I would cook them both the day before and reheat in the microwave

ah ok, not sure about reheating and how long etc, but will have a look at the instructions to make sure I don't poison anyone.

I think it was Jamie Oliver that said the roast potatoes can be cooked the day before and stored in the fridge. Might be an idea as if the oven doesn't get hot enough, they won't get crispy.

I think I would boil the potatoes the day before and roast them lightly in the oven with hot goose fat. Wouldn't need as long

I had a similar situation and put it all into food flasks which worked pretty well, and I just made gravy granules which heated everything up further.

thanks all. will try and do as much in advance and lug it round for re-heating. I have a feeling it won't all be ready at the same time but we will just have to eat it as it comes. It's about making it all easier for mum, that's the main thing.
