Anyone else an Amazon hypocrite?

I've been reading with increasing horror reports of Amazon workers being exploited and over-worked but I am finding it hard to find any concrete facts about this.

In the meantime, I am ordering the bulk of my Christmas presents on-line via Amazon, as I do every year.

Anyone else feeling increasingly uncomfortable about this?

Does anyone know where I can find any solid information on the subject?

Yes, mall/chain store shopping is no fun at all. I don't think that type of store will survive, eventually. I don't mind going to local independent shops and try to do that as well as online.

I'm too poor to have ethics

My neighbour works for Amazon and says the company treat the staff well, free food and drinks, and shares every year.

It is easy for me to avoid them really. I walk through town on my way to work and all the shops are quiet. So I can nip in and get everything I need in peace.

I love Amazon and order at least once a week from them, often more.

They employ a lot of people and it can't be that bad it they would all work elsewhere.

The tax situation, unless illegal, is no different to a lot of businesses. The self employed people use tax saving measures and write off lots as expenses so no different.

Sounds ideal Meglet!

It's still so difficult to pin down the truth about their working conditions (judging from the different responses here). It is a relief to hear good reports like yours thegrincheaper though; although maybe that's just me trying to assuage my guilt!

I guess it will be better for everyone when drones take over deliveries but then what will all the van drivers do?

I use Amazon pretty regularly. Been real life shopping today, came home and ordered from Amazon, three items (book and 2 dvd's) saved myself £15 and they will be delivered tomorrow. Quite often compare price in stores to Amazon's website because who can afford to pay over the odds?
