I've never been especially good at tree decorating and haven't really been able to figure out where I'm going wrong.

This year has been compounded by the shitness of the tree! I swear it looked good in the shop... But as soon as the lights and decs were put on it looked all straggly and limp and shite.

So, short of buying another tree, do any of you have any top tips for how to salvage it?!

Help me sort out my shit tree!

You do know it's supposed to sit stationary on the tree? What are you doing with it for it to be making a noise and itching you? Grin

Looks fine to me.

I like your tree.

faceremovinghairscream · 11/12/2017 21:12

I think it's quite cute Smile

@MrsDc7 I have inquisitive cats who shake the tree about and knock things off that I have to put back on, they're absolute horrors! DC (who is one) seems not to like tinsel either, I showed it to him in a shop and he was very interested until he reached to touch it and then recoiled Grin

Get some simple metal hooks for hanging the baubles, then you can place them along the branches, rather than just hanging them off the ends using the thread that baubles usually come with.
I had this tip form a professional, makes a lot of difference.

More lights will sort it out. I went from 200 to 600 this year and it looks loads better and I've used less decorations.
You can never have too many fairy lights.

I think it's lovely. I also like your bay window.

Biggest ornaments go lower, small ones go higher. This was told to be by early 20's builder working in my house who offered to decorate my tree (not euphemism).

I would drape thick wired ribbon around it

Thank you everyone. Operation 'improve the tree' begins at the weekend. I post an updated pic when I'm done if I can.
