Boxing day buffet

Having family over on boxing day, will be 13 of us with a range of dietary needs (vegetarian, coeliac and milk intolerance) I was thinking of doing sort of a Christmas dinner buffet, with Meats/veggie option, stuffing, pigs in blankets etc for sandwiches. Is this a super rubbish idea after a big Christmas dinner the day before?? Will have crisps and dips etc but don't want to go over board. Any suggestions please??

Sounds great!

Different types of bread rolls in baskets with a selection of sandwich fillers, pigs in blankets, stuffing, cranberry sauce and bread sauce, crisps, dips.....

And some puddings. Not left over pudding though.

Sausages are generally no good for coeliacs.

I have a friend who is gluten free, she pointed out the 'Heck' brand of sausages as being fine.

Aldi's Christmas food catalogue says most of their festive range of Christmas sides are gluten free. Tesco do a few gf packs. I buy the highest meat content and gf sausages often fit the bill.

Sounds nice

I am doing the same but no allergies or anything and all omnivores.

We are having left over turkey, gammon ham, italian meats, cheese board, coleslaw, mackerel pate, pigs in blankets, jacket potatoes, green salad, slow roasted tomatoes, hummus with veg dips, bread selection, baked camembert, grapes, olives, and some m&s party food bits. This is a lot of food but the leftovers will feed us for the rest of xmas week. You cant beat a boxing day buffet, the best meal of the week imo

M&S has a gluten free party selection in their Christmas food range.

Tbh if we go to anything boxing day, Christmas lunch leftovers with a few extra bits (salad, crisps cake!).are pretty normal!

If we entertain it will be later - maybe new years day - and we'll just cook a couple of different casseroles and serve with pasta and crusty bread.

It is my dd that has coeliac disease so I'm not worried about that, but I'd forgotten about m and s Christmas range so thats a good idea to have a look there, thanks! I tend to get asda extra special sausages and their range looks pretty good this year!

Sounds like that's fairly standard then :) I'd just seen an identical thread like this one so apologies for doubling up!!

I use M&S every time I put on a buffet. Great choice and so easy - order in advance and then pick your collection date. For Boxing Day I only do cold stuff as it’s a no cooking day in our house after so much cooking on Christmas Day.

We are doing Boxing Day - user5trillion I am liking your list very much and am stealing much of it especially the mackerel pate.

User5trillion · 10/12/2017 22:05

Just discovered mackerel pate, its my aim to eat more (any) oily fish and its lush and so easy to make.

It’s also £1.10 to buy Grin
