Do you have kids? If you do how about a calendar or photobook of him and the grandkids?

TheSpottedZebra · 08/12/2017 20:54

New football scarf?

Weather station?

A load of his favourite chocolate bars?

Put the 20 behind the bar for him?

PhuntSox · 08/12/2017 20:57

Football t-shirt/douvet cover/waste paper bin
Beer mug filled with pork scratchings etc
Kindle
Basket of local beers with pretty labels.

blue2014 · 08/12/2017 20:57

Just the one kid/grandkid but he's not the "soft" type.

Football scarf not a bad idea .. I'll look into it.

He tries not eat 'unhealthy" food at home ..

Alpaca scarf? Keep him toasty at footie in the cold or good gloves/heat tech thermals

ColinsVeryJolly · 08/12/2017 23:45

Who does he support? I think these are nice www.notonthehighstreet.com/turffootballart/product/contemporary-football-stadium-by-postcode-print

What about this quilted Shetland wool jacket, it's a bit over your budget, but it's reduced by 145.00 to 49.99 and should keep him warm.

All football teams have loads of gifts on their website. A mug, a book, scarf, Neck warmer etc.

blue2014 · 09/12/2017 10:51

Thank you! I don't know why football stuff didn't occur to me, he supports an obscure local team so I didn't think they're so stuff but they do so hat and scarf it is from me.

I love that jacket though lady - might suggest DH gets it for him

T-shirt from Philosophy Football. They've got some great quotes on them including Cantona's "when the seagulls...." and George Best "I've spent money on birds, booze and fast cars, the rest I just wasted" ( more or less, poor memory!)

blue2014 · 09/12/2017 11:34

I don't know if he's that cool 😊

Uniqlo do Heattech long sleeve jumpers and vests. All the men from 6 - 70 , in my family swear by them for keeping out the cold on the terraces

Whisky2014 · 09/12/2017 12:10

Debenhams have a sale on. I bought a jumper for 20 that was 40

rockcakesrock · 09/12/2017 12:12

Heattech long sleeve t is 19.90 short sleeve is 9.90. Men in my family are so hard to buy for, but Uniqlo are a life saver.

Book, eg private eye annual?

RockinHippy · 10/12/2017 01:48

I'm gathering up a lot of smaller gifts for my similar aged DF, & will be including lots of smaller treats. He likes to unwrap things, so everything, no matter how small is wrapped up separately & given in a Xmas sack.

So far I've got him

A lap tray with "his lordship" printed on it
Knee length, thermal ski socks (they feel the cold at this age)
Little bottles of various wines.
His favourite nuts
His favourite chocolates
His favourite sweets
& I'll probably add, some sort of microwavable heat pad, a tube of magnesium gel & some toiletries such as shaving balm etc, nothing fancy, as he's happier with the likes of Brut & Old Spice. Maybe a new mug & a throw he can wrap around him when he's chilling in front of the TV or some pyjamas

I buy my similar aged Dad all the goodies DM doesn't allow him to have through the year. I buy chocolate covered brazil nuts, toffees, shortcake biscuits. He loves it and we always have a smile between ourselves at Mum's face!
BTW Mum isn't an ogre, just very health and weight conscious!

LizzieSiddal · 10/12/2017 08:07

A book
Aftershave
Warm Gloves or scarf for football

CupcakeEater · 10/12/2017 08:18

Brewery tour

AdamBarlowsQuiff · 10/12/2017 08:33

The cultzeros website is good for football tshirts if he supports a lower league club. You can get players from any team on there. I've used it a couple of times and If you don't see who you want they can still sort it for you. www.cultzeros.co.uk/

Davros · 12/12/2017 09:36

Btw Philisophy Football also does Dad's Army t-shirts amongst others. E.G. "don't panic", "we're doomed" etc

Lichtie · 12/12/2017 09:43

Buy him hospitality tickets for him and his son for a game in the new year. It's what I do for FIL every year, goes down a treat.

blue2014 · 12/12/2017 11:49

Grin DH HATES football - that would be a nightmare gift for him Smile

All done - i went for football scarf and hat and bath salts

Thanks everyone
