If you've got / getting a fingerling, what age is the recipient?

Just wondering what the age range is, and whether a 10 year old would go for one or are they for younger kids?

I have for two 6 year olds and a four year old. Not sure what the age range is!

Sadmum23 · 08/12/2017 19:53

9 year old girl - all her friends are after them

angelawilliams · 08/12/2017 20:12

I'd say it's a pretty diverse toy. I have a friend who has a 4-year-old and a 9-year-old (both girls) and they both absolutely love them! My daughter is 11 though I think she's slightly too old, I think you've just got to judge what you think they'd like!

Alexindisguise · 08/12/2017 20:36

I've bought them for a 7 and 12 year old. The older one will love the cuteness.

Sunshineandeggshells · 08/12/2017 20:40

Have got one for my 6 year old and 3 year old (suspect not aimed at younger but knew he would want what his big sister had.

SagelyNodding · 08/12/2017 20:44

I've ordered one for a 7 year old boy, and twitched and ordered another for my nearly 10 year old son-have no idea why, and honestly I'm not sure whether I will give it to him or not! DS2 will definitely love it, Ds1 is probably a bit old

thismeansnothing · 08/12/2017 20:46

Got one for my daughter who's 5 almost 6

Lostmyemailaddress · 08/12/2017 20:46

We've got 4 1 for a 4yr old a 6 yr old and a 9 yr old girls and my ds2 who's 13 tomorrow

Haudyerwheesht · 08/12/2017 20:46

My 7 year old loves hers. Her 11 year old brother isn't remotely interested .

MyDcAreMarvel · 08/12/2017 20:54

Six year old girl , depend whether the ten year old is into similar toys.

CFSantasDrankAllTheGin · 08/12/2017 20:59

We've bought 4 for 3yr old DD. She's animal mad and crazy about finger family songs so I know she'll love them although they look far too big for her fingers.

I think the box says aged 4 or 5+.

Agustarella · 08/12/2017 21:03

She's nearly nine, monkey mad, and I didn't buy one when the shops were stuffed full of the things so I'm now kicking myself. Luckily she has a birthday in February.

skankingpiglet · 08/12/2017 21:13

We've bought our 3yo one. We said she could pick one thing for Xmas and that's what she chose after we'd dissuaded her from the Hama beads. It's recommended for slightly older children but I think she'll be fine as it doesn't look particularly difficult to operate. But most importantly it doesn't have tiny parts that 17mo DD2 can stick up her nose/swallow.

formerbabe · 08/12/2017 21:15

7 year old dd. She was obsessed with it for a week...it now languishes at the bottom of the toy box!

MonaChopsis · 08/12/2017 21:31

Nearly 8 years old DD. She loved it for 5 minutes and then got bored pretty quickly... Bought it with her own pocket money though so I'm not too bothered!

KC225 · 10/12/2017 15:34

Desperate for one for a 10 year old girl. Her twin brother isn't interested

whimsical1975 · 10/12/2017 16:56

I've got one for my 10yr old DD... she wants one for the cuteness factor, rather than for playing with

jennielou75 · 10/12/2017 17:04

I got one for my five year old niece and her 13 year old sister!! She will live it and they can play together with them which will be the excuse!

SideOrderofSprouts · 10/12/2017 18:08

Six year old girl

Passthecake30 · 10/12/2017 20:30

My dd (8) got one for her bday. Played for 2mins and it is now an ornament (like everything else) as all she does is sit at the table writing/drawing...

GlitterRollerSkate · 15/02/2018 15:24

@Unicornfluff did you buy one in the end? My niece is just about to turn 10 so wonder if she would like it. I brought one for my 2 year old on a whim at Christmas and she adores it and is very gentle. I worry the 10 year old will be too "grown up"

Mummyoflittledragon · 21/12/2018 04:32

My dd is 10 and wouldn’t be remotely interested. She’s an active child and hasn’t really played with toys intensely for the past couple of years. I hadn’t even heard of them before a quick google, so I can tell you they’re not popular at her age in her school. She is very aware of “stuff” that other children have. Personally I’d go for something more veering toward teens.

I assume this is a girl. Squishies are also passe. Dd is into Paperchase more than Smiggle now. Unicorns seem like a big thing this year even with millennials apparently. I bought dd a Sainsbury’s unicorn hottie (£10) and she’s got a couple of unicorn tops. Slime is still a good one for now.

Mummyoflittledragon · 21/12/2018 04:33

Ha ha. Just seen the date on this one. Is there one person on here making all the old threads trend.

Must be a naughty elf!

gemdrop84 · 21/12/2018 15:59

10 year old dd; she asked for one of the dragon fingerlings-I think it's more because it's a dragon and that's her favourite creature which you don't see many toys of.
5year old ds asked for the raptor one as he's really into dinosaurs at the moment.

mrsdaz · 22/12/2018 07:56

Mine were 6 and 8 last year when they got them. Touched them once and they’ve been in a box upstairs all year - I really ought to have given them away by now to a child who would love one:..
