Do you wrap the stocking gifts?

Just that really? DD 5 has a huge stocking and there’s tons of little bits of crap plastic so I don’t know whether to wrap or not?

I think last year, I wrapped a lot and left chocolates/smellies unwrapped.

She’s not an early riser so I’m not too worried about prolonging the opening!

What do you do?

I wrap them all except for the chocolate coins which are obligatory every year.

Always! Unwrapping is a huge part of the fun!

I would say it depends on how much you put in the stocking? Is it a stocking to keep them in their bedrooms until a reasonable hour or a big stocking containing loads of gifts?

We had a tube of sweets and a satsuma in ours from the big FC that were never wrapped, but he always wrapped the toy in the stocking for us. If it's a couple of things then it's up to you, but if it has lots of their presents in and is more of a sack then a stocking then I think they should be wrapped.

I'm getting a bit anal about wastage as i get older Blush and Christmas paper is... Well, i don't want to piss on anyone's chips.

I wrap in paper: presents for others' children; presents being posted. Everyone else's is in swathes of festive fabric/fabric bags, now in their 4th year of use. I do the same for birthdays with other cheerful fabric.

No but after reading that most people do I think I might start!

rachrach2 · 04/12/2017 10:08

Definitely - unwrapping my stocking was so exciting as a child that I absolutely want to keep it going for my children, wouldn’t be the same if it wasn’t wrapped!

No, we like it to be a bit like a lucky dip. Stick your hand in and what have you got! I do things like tie a bit of ribbon round rolled up socks though.

Lovemusic33 · 04/12/2017 16:27

I don’t usually wrap but they are have no less this year so everything will be wrapped to make it last longer.

CakeNinja · 04/12/2017 16:31

Wrapped apart from the chocolate coins and the orange.
They have sacks with loads of presents in and it doesn't seem right not to have them wrapped. Mainly because mine were wrapped when I was little!

faintlinesquints · 04/12/2017 16:37

I wrap stocking stuff in tissue paper and seal with Xmas stickers, so much easier and quicker to do. Don't tend to wrap chocs/sweets - any smellies I put in festive cello bags in case of any spills or smell transfers to consumables.

Enidblyton1 · 04/12/2017 16:43

Yes, I wrap things - except for apple, orange and chocolate coins. It would never occur to me not to. Like pps, I just wrap very loosely with paper so the presents are very quick to wrap and easy to open.

wendz86 · 04/12/2017 17:51

Yes because I use it to distract them until main presents so takes longer to do that way .

anyoldname76 · 04/12/2017 17:54

yes i wrap everything apart from the chocolate coins and satsuma

RebelRogue · 04/12/2017 17:56

I didn't wrap them last year, everyone survived, xmas was not ruined, DD still loved her tat.

MirandaWest · 04/12/2017 18:34

Everything gets wrapped. Except for the satsuma

kungfupannda · 04/12/2017 18:36

DP and I have an ongoing debate about this. He thinks they should be wrapped. I don't.

It therefore gets to Christmas Eve and he makes a decision as to whether he can be bothered to make a stand about it and do all the fiddly wrapping Grin

CinnamonStar · 04/12/2017 18:37

I always wrap (including the satsuma) but there aren't that many bits in there - under 10.
I do different coloured paper for each child - easier to quickly fill the stockings in the dark, easier to see whose is whose when they tip the contents out onto the floor together.
