Best crackers for cheeseboard

As the title suggests really, what crackers do you all love with cheese? I’m always lacking in this area and usually buy a selection box which gets thrown away after a few crackers are eaten.

I’ve got a stick of the Jules Destrooper Almond thins for Stilton and need to get some Carrs cheese melts because I love them but what else? I fancy some lovely poppyseed/rosemary or such creation but don’t know what to buy.

What are your must haves?

I forgot the doriana crackers (any cheese) and oatcakes (Stilton).

Charcoal crackers are really nice. Contrasting flavour to cheese but still a neutral one. I’d really recommend hunting out a pack.

Fekko · 29/11/2017 19:01

What do they taste of? A bit burney? Rice cakes are nice with a soft spreadable cheese.

Not down to more serious stuff. What's your favourite cheese? I'm going to have to go for pecorino. Or goats, feta or haloumi. Very mature cheddar is my everyday one.

Jenijena · 29/11/2017 19:02

No they’re not a burnt taste. It’s hard to explain, definitely savoury though. Sort of in the way that brown bread tastes different to white, it’s an earthier flavour.

We used to get some for the dog! She seemed to enjoy them (without cheese!). Are they the grey ones?

IamEarthymama · 29/11/2017 19:05

When I could eat gluten I loved Hovis crackers.
Now I have Nairn's gf oatcakes and Schar crackers, though the latter are explosive to eat but so tasty
If anyone had any GF Recommendations I would be very grateful

yellowsun · 29/11/2017 19:09

Carrs.

Aldi do some nice buttermilk ones in their posh range

Wh0KnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 29/11/2017 19:17

High-baked water biscuits. Nothing beats those.

Ridingthegravytrain · 29/11/2017 19:44

@iamearthymama these are gf, really easy to make and delicious. I add more mustard than the recipe calls for and caraway seeds and bake til quite dark

Great with cheese

Piccolino2 · 29/11/2017 20:17

Oh thanks everyone! I’ve now got a basket full of crackers in my Ocado shop! Sadly don’t like water biscuits at all but had forgotten how much I love digestives with cheese! Yum yum!

Try with a drizzle of honey on top. You won't regret it!

goose1964 · 29/11/2017 23:00

Fudge's are really good quality and they advise which style of cheese they go with

SashaFiercesMum · 29/11/2017 23:13

As others have said- the plain biscuits for strong- flavoured cheeses. Carrs, water biscuits, cracked black pepper ones... I save the Hovis ones for my son!

SashaFiercesMum · 29/11/2017 23:14

As for cheeses- Wensleydale with apricot/cranberry, Stilton, hot chilli cheese...any with a strong flavour. Edam makes me boak!

DivisionBelle · 01/12/2017 17:40

Carrs Water Biscuits - preferably the big ones
Bath Olivers
Something oaty - Waitrose black sesame and seaweed are nice
Somthing thin, crisp and sourdoughy E.G St Peter's Yard Sourdough Crispbread
Maybe Lingue Flatbreads, possibly with rosemary, like this

Valerrie · 01/12/2017 19:24

For those of you who like digestives with cheddar, a scrape of marmite on the biscuit is life changing.
