Good family Xmas film for 3 and 5 year old believers

Hi

Can you recommend some child friendly Xmas films which don’t even suggest that Father Christmas might not exist. I seem to remember that even Arthur Christmas had a dodgy bit that implied someone didn’t believe in Father Christmas (I can’t remember the details now).

Thanks in advance x

Mine always loved The Snowman at that age. Short, sweet, features Father Christmas.

A lot of the best Christmas films do have characters who don't believe- and the magic is in them being converted - The Polar Express, for instance.

Our top traditional fave is Santa Claus the Movie. It has children "not believing" as a plot point, but the whole film is from the Big Guy's perspective so it's definitely "real".

I stuck with the Snowman too, for that reason. I posted this link earlier of santa spoilers on another thread. That website is a good one to check as it's the kind of thing that will be mentioned in their reviews. Sorry not to come up with actual suggestions for you

Polar express. My 2 love it (5 and 3). Maybe the boy bit small doubts right at the start but never overtly expressed and the polar express turns up fairly early on to whisk away any doubts and turn it all magical :)

Miracle on 34th Street, with its "I believe" theme, is a firm favourite here. There's never any doubt that Father Christmas IS Father Christmas and it's the non-believers who are represented as the foolish ones.

Plus it is the loveliest film in the world. And one of the only cases I can recall of the 'new' version being as special as the original!

Gruffalo and Gruffalo's Child

Arthur christmas

I have a 3 and 4 year old and have bought the snowman and the elf story this year.

Stick man is also a lovely animation with fr Christmas making an appearance

Miracle on 34th Street wouldn't be a great choice because the whole plot is disbelief in Father Christmas! Anyway, it's yawn inducing.

How about Father Christmas, the Raymond Briggs animated one?

CoffeeAndEnnui · 22/11/2017 23:53

The plot may be based around disbelief but it is an in joke that the audience are in on because we already know Kris Kringle is Father Christmas. It is far from yawn inducing, it's completely delightful!

Came to say the Raymond Briggs Father Christmas. Another bloomin’ Christmas! One of my three year olds favourites.

Thanks everyone, I’ll definitely try a couple of those

I love Christmas on 34th Street but don’t think it’s right for this and those ages - there is a scene where the Mum outright says there is no such thing and my son saw that and was a bit stricken by it as it is so blunt and at those ages they find it hard to put that within the full context of the movie “plot” imo.
