Coffee pod machines

Any recommendations?!

Would love to get us one as a little ‘family’ Christmas pressie from Father Christmas (I do this every year) , but have no idea what to look for, which are good makes, reasonable price pods, nicest coffee etc...

Thinking this week / Black Friday will be the best time to buy one.

We love coffee and hot chocolate in our home. But I tend to stick to decaf coffee (migraines), hubby likes lattes, I love things like chai latte too.

Any help would be awesome - thank you!

I just a Tassimo in Morrisons for £55

What shotsfired said.

Even recycling doesn't solve this.

Look at an aeopress or a proper coffee machine.

Personally I find the pods very fake tasting

The £1 for a machine Nespresso offer is really good.
It’s £19 for first payment and then £18 for next 11 months
The £18’s are credited to your Nespresso account each month and can then be used to buy coffee (or accessories)
You can build up the monies and I think you have around 2 years in which to spend it

We had a nesspresso at a holiday cottage that we went to, and initially I was excited at the treat. ButI was disappointed, the coffee wasn't that nice, and the pods were a nightmare. MAybe I was doing it wrong, but one used I chucked the empty pods in the sink as if I put them straight in the bin they leaked. even getting them to the bin involved carrying a dripping pod across the room. Then I was stuck with a sink full of slowing leaking pods. Ugh.

We had had a tassimo in the past and liked it, but found the pods were quite expensive and there are no generic alternatives

For the last couple of years we've just used a coffee machine. www.espressomachinereviews.org.uk/delonghi-bco410-combi-coffee-machine-review Works fine for morning for filter coffee and the espresso part makes lovely lattes etc at weekends. And it uses normal coffee grinds so you can go as cheap/expensive as you like and have a huge variety to choose from. Works for us.

Love my Tassimo but not keen on hot choc apart from the suchard one. I do drink black coffee though so might just be the powdered milk

PLEASE don't buy a coffee pod machine.

See www.honestcoffees.com/blog/environmental-impact-of-using-coffee-pods/

Please think about the planet.

Another Bosch/Tassimo fan here - my coffee machine is still going strong after 6.5 years. Pods are approx. £4 for 16 but there are occasional deals to be had. Fave is the Americano Smooth - which is lovely either black or with milk. Tastes like proper coffee.

Redglitter · 22/11/2017 12:31

I had a dolce gusto and got rid of it for a Tassimo. No comparison Tassimo is streets ahead

I love my Nespresso, the pods are collected in a free, resealable recycling bag when the orders are delivered.
Some of the flavours are absolutely lovely and I love starting my day with a no mess espresso.

We have a nespresso which we love.
Also nice to make hot frothy milk for DC hot chocolate.
Don't find it faffy at all-and save a fortune not going to buy coffee from Starbucks et al.....

Wow, the Lavazza Modo Mia is only £35 at john Lewis... my finger is hovering over the mouse button. Argh!
