22mo boy. Loves jumping, loves watching shows on his tablet. His favourite is postman pat, but think parents have all the postman pat toys covered. Likes hoovers (has a toy Hoover). Has a mini trampoline. Suggested a jumpy floor keyboard thing which my mums getting him. Not much room in his DMs flat for large toys. Really not interested in many toys at all.

He is the best little boy and I love him so much. I suspect additional needs, but don't feel there's any benefit raising this even if I'm correct. Nursery hasn't said anything as far as I know. Just for background in that his interests are very very limited.

Does anyone have any good ideas for him? He's so difficult to shop for! We usually spend about £30 on each other's kids - but tbh I'd go up to £100 if there was something perfect that he'd love.

I don't know if they are still around but years ago there were these things that fitted onto shoes and they flashed each time you walked or jumped

You could keep them on and still walk properly iyswim

Sort of like as he landed it would flash a light from under his shoe onto the floor

Sorry no idea what they are called

What about a pillowpet. I don't think they do postman pat but they have lots of characters. Or if they don't have much space a small token present and then trip out vouchers, like a subscription to a local farm/zoo with a toy animal. Or Merlin vouchers for CBeebies land because that's got lots of postman pat and you could buy him a book perhaps to go alongside. Older children i don't tend to go day out type presents because I think they like something on the day but for under 2s I really think it works

If he likes hoovers, how about this?

My son has ASD and at that age he loved spinning things and wooden trains/track. What about some sensory toys? Popular with most children not just those who may have additional needs.

I can really recommend the Galt Junior Ball Run as an excellent toddler present for SEN and otherwise....

Its on amazon at £28

My daughter is a similar age - no SEN that we know of but things she likes are:

  • crayons and colouring books/big sheets of paper
  • stickers. She LOVES stickers.
  • wooden trains (Bigjigs are just as good as Brio and half the price)
  • play food and cooking stuff (saucepans, wooden spoons, etc.)
  • books, especially anything by Julia Donaldson
  • toy piano (she has the Melissa and Doug one, which is nice)
  • Scuttlebug

We’re getting her a play kitchen for Christmas, and my parents will buy her a scooter.

Not sure if any of those ideas might suit?

What about a slide/play set? Little tikes do a great range. Suitable girl outdoors and indoors, space permitting.

Or a tunnel and tent thing?

Ball pit?

They also do a one person seesaw. Also a crazy coupe car plus petrol station yo refill etc.
