Even if it's not a Christmas one.
We always watch Eight crazy nights. I don't mind elf and the nightmare before Christmas either

We generally go to the cinema (used to go to Panto till we all got old!)

stargirl1701 · 19/11/2017 22:57

We have little DC so it's How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the 1960s animated classic with Boris Karloff as the voice of The Grinch).

We watch The Snowman, The Snowman and Snowdog and Stickman during Advent.

MostIneptThatEverStepped · 19/11/2017 22:58

Always The Grinch! The Jim Carrey one.

Insomnibrat · 19/11/2017 23:04

I find Polar Express a bit creepy!

Christmas With The Kranks is good too, but there's nowhere like Whoville around Christmas Day!

Ojoj1974 · 19/11/2017 23:05

Nativity
Love Actually
The grinch
Miracle on 34 st

Floralnomad · 19/11/2017 23:06

We always have a couple of films on Christmas Eve , last year was one of the Naked gun trilogy and Ruthless People , this year it’s going to be Sing and one of the Naked Gun trilogy .

TheBlueMeaniesAreComing · 20/11/2017 02:15

We go nuts with Xmas movies. Every weekend in December we watch Christmas movies and once my oldest finishes school for the holiday they are pretty much nonstop. Our list has nightmare before Christmas, mickeys once and twice upon a Christmas, home alone, both versions of the grinch, the Santa Claus movie with Dudley Moore and the Santa Claus trilogy with Tim Allen, Arthur Christmas, Disney a Christmas carol and the muppets Christmas carol which is always our last movie. I force my dp to watch it’s a wonderful life every year too. This year I’m going to introduce the snowman and Jack Frost

oldlaundbooth · 20/11/2017 02:18

Elf.
Home alone.

Watching A Christmas Prince atm Grin

oldlaundbooth · 20/11/2017 02:19

Also like Arthur Christmas.

KC225 · 20/11/2017 02:45

Kids go to bed, then DH and I crack open some decent snacks, something nice to drink and watch BAD SANTA

Mugshotzforlunch · 20/11/2017 03:13

At exactly 6.30pm the polar express goes on. Followed by nibbles and Santa clause the movie.
Christmas day is the snowman at 3pm now followed by the snowman and the snowdog. (I'm very specific Hmm)
Home alone is reserved for tree night.
And every other one in between Grin

Isadora2007 · 20/11/2017 03:51

Arthur’s best Christmas from the cbbc show Arthur.
It’s been a staple xmas eve film for over ten years now.
Ds5 is heavily into the nightmare before Christmas just now though so am sure we will watch that too.

liquidrevolution · 20/11/2017 03:59

Buddy the elf. It's the musical animation of the film Elf!

We put it on in the afternoon and carols in the eve before Dd goes to bed. I always sing silent night to her as I put her to bed.

We don't have an adult film for the evening and I imagine it will be an early night this year in preparation for very early wake up by excited child...

wendz86 · 20/11/2017 06:09

The children get a dvd in their Christmas Eve bag so whatever they get ! This year it’s nativity .

DaftCat · 20/11/2017 06:53

National Lampoon Christmas Vacation. I love it. It’s ridiculous and we can (and do) quote every word.

StylishDuck · 20/11/2017 08:28

Whatever DVD is in the Christmas Eve box. We’ve got Arthur Christmas this year to watch with DD (nearly 3) and The Santa Clause 2 to watch after (we watched the first one last year). I love a Christmas film though and make a point of watching Love Actually, The Holiday, Elf, White Christmas, It’s a Wonderful Life etc... in the run up to Christmas, when I’m wrapping or whatever. I finish work in 3 weeks for maternity leave so I think I’ll manage to squeeze a few more in this year Grin

Greenteandchives · 20/11/2017 08:30

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Makes me laugh every time.

stitchglitched · 20/11/2017 08:31

Home Alone 1 and 2 with the kids.
Miracle on 34th Street and Die Hard when wrapping presents.

apostropheuse · 20/11/2017 08:52

The Snowman and then Polar Express. Grin

dan220282 · 20/11/2017 08:54

Die Hard.

DownTheChimney · 20/11/2017 09:44

The polar express. It’s not Christmas Eve without it

Yep we watch this every Christmas Eve too and I bring out the hot chocolates singing and dancing when the hot chocolate song comes on Xmas Grin

ScouseQueen · 20/11/2017 09:53

It varies but may well be Home Alone this year. I'm always the last one up wrapping final presents though and when everyone else has gone to bed I put on the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special. Sadly I have to make do with normal Baileys and not mint Baileys to accompany it Wink

goose1964 · 20/11/2017 13:53

I try to watch The Hogfather, and we get the Christmas specials of Shrek, Madagascar and ice age

ilovetosleep · 20/11/2017 19:34

Can I just ask a Q about movies for kids - are there any with no reference to not believing in Santa? Would love to do watch something with the DC on Christmas Eve but I'm terrified of planting a seed. Thanks!

redpickle · 20/11/2017 20:57

“Get Santa” with the kids - It’s a future classic!

“It’s a Wonderful Life” for us when they’re in bed and we’re finally relaxing
