Stuck with main present, stuck with stocking fillers!

She likes music and art.

Dd 12 getting Alexa, Topshop vouchers, vans, beauty advent calendar,

ParadiseCity · 20/11/2017 10:25

@haba yes it is a tricky age you're right. I like your list - it's 'things to do'. Not appearance based/ 'things to be' which I think it is easy to slip into. We got DD a calligraphy set for her 11 bday and she loves it. One of those surprise presents that worked out really popular.

Braceface · 20/11/2017 10:26

My 10 year old has just had her birthday so am struggling.

Sensimilla · 20/11/2017 10:42

Oh, calligraphy set is a great idea!

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 20/11/2017 10:48

I'm a bit stuck too. she mentioned Heeley's but I really am not sure she'll get much use out of them.

She'll get a few books - the new Wimpy Kid, Goth Girl, illustrated Fantastic Beasts, and and iTunes voucher. I have already got her some Harry Potter stuff at Primark for stocking fillers, and the Women of Nasa lego set, mainly because I want it for myself.

haba · 20/11/2017 10:50

Paradise- my 11yo DD is definitely still a "doing stuff" child Smile
No interest in clothes/make-up yet, neither have most of her friends tbh, though I had thought this might have changed when they went to secondary.

mumontherun14 · 20/11/2017 11:53

I am getting DD (11)
Laptop (HP on offer in Amazon sale)
Horse models play set (Schelin)
Subscription to Pony magazine & some horsey bits and bobs
New headphones
Echo dot (Amazon sale just now)
Books, pyjamas, cosy slippers toiletries, board game, sports t-shirts & leggings that she likes

She is horse mad and spends most of her time in muddy boots and jodphurs so at least that gives me some ideas!

xxx

mumontherun14 · 20/11/2017 11:59

Lush gifts are a good idea too I think for stocking fillers. They do bath bombs all gift wrapped which my DD likes. x

reluctantbrit · 20/11/2017 15:25

DD is 10 and she doesn't really get a "main" present. She actually says herself, she doesn't need a lot and can't really think of anything.

She put lots of little things on her wish list like books, make up, anything for riding, anything with Harry Potter on it.

DH wants to get her into coding/IT so she gets the Lego Boost (expensive experiment but I think DH wants to get his hands on it, so I said yes) and we will get Harry Potter tour tickets as a family gift.

I normally don't like clothing as presents but she gets some HP stuff from Primark I wouldn't buy normally.

We have lots of board games, drown in DVDs, I don't want to buy for the sake of buying so no bath stuff or hair thingies. She got jewellery for her birthday and bags/phone is earmarked for her next birthday when she starts secondary school (July birthday).

Lovemusic33 · 20/11/2017 15:35

Nintendo ds xl, Pokemon moon, Amazon echo and a bath bomb making kit.

Sensimilla · 20/11/2017 15:55

There is soooo many things I want to get dd1. But I can't think of anything for dd2 to balance it Confused...She just wants 'suprises' Hmm

madeyemoodysmum · 20/11/2017 16:02

Laptop 12 up for homework etc but it's not a very high end one.

A few books and some stranger things stolid as she is obsessed with it.

butteredbarmbrack · 20/11/2017 16:13

My 10 year old has just done her Christmas list:
A fit bit/watch that counts steps
Fountain pen
Lush bath bombs
Smiggle or Tinc things
Books (especially Spirit Animal series)
Unicorn PJs or hot water bottle
Baking stuff
New case for her Kindle
Lego
Extra XBox controller (for when friends are round)
CDs
Harry Potter stuff
Soda Stream
Molton Brown Shower Gel (she got a bottle in her stocking last year having helped me choose some for my friend, she absolutely loved one of the scents and it lasted her ages)
A surprise appearance for Playmobil, which I thought no longer de rigeur....
And..... one of Santa's Bells!

It's well accepted in our house that a Christmas wish list is ideas, you don't get everything on the list!

Her 13 year old sister still needs to do a list but Lego and Harry Potter are up there for her too (We've got the women of NASA set), and we have got tickets for Hamilton the musical as main present, she's obsessed and will be thrilled with that Smile

mrsm43s · 20/11/2017 16:49

DD (just above the older end of your range) is getting Amazon Echo, a footspa, perfume and a ladyshave for main presents. We do quite big stocking (pillowcase!) fillers, and they will be things such as a new dressing gown/make up set/face masks/bath bombs/make up brushes/new cushion/throw for newly decorated bedroom/Costa voucher etc.

DS, (towards the top of your age range) will have Amazon Echo, electric keyboard and firestick for his main presents. Stocking fillers are much harder for him - so far Guinness book of records/Ripleys, a couple of X-box games, a new football, chocolate/toiletry set, plus a few silly things like magic 8 ball etc. Oh and a Donald Trump mask (don't ask!)

It's the first year that DS hasn't had lego, and the first year that DD hasn't had any art/craft kits! In fact, no real "toys" at all! They're growing up!

butterfly990 · 20/11/2017 18:23

JinglePingu · 21/11/2017 09:43

Also on the longlist (she's not getting everything)

wireless headphones
kindle
VR headset
3d pen

JinglePingu · 21/11/2017 09:53

Anyone getting a fingerling? Or are they a bit young?

caffelatte100 · 21/11/2017 09:59

haba,
why not wireless headphones?

JinglePingu · 21/11/2017 10:14

Ohhh... just had a quick google and it seems there might be health concerns with wireless headphones, with the waves emitted by wireless devices?

Might take them off the list, then, as it was just an idea I had, she hasn't asked for them.

Taffeta · 21/11/2017 10:48

We won’t let either of ours have wireless headphones, but DH bought me a pair for my birthday.

Although it’s him that uses them all the time.....Hmm
