Just appeared on DS(5) list - anyone got one??

My 5 year old ds has also asked for the exact same thing!

I didn't come up with anything when I searched. The closest thing was a Hornby train set but thinks he's too young for one yet.

Brio do battery powered trains with a very simple remote control that work with basic Brio/wooden train tracks.

Equimum · 18/11/2017 23:50

Brio do a good one:

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B007IGRV74/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ref=plSrch&keywords=brio+remote+control+train&dpPl=1&dpID=41w2SOw7L9L&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1511048901&sr=8-1

Lidl also had some in last week, so if you are quick, you might find still find one there (I know our local store still had one on Friday)

Wincher · 18/11/2017 23:59

I came on to recommend the Lidl ones they are doing at the moment. We have a set from a couple of christmases ago.

NeitherNowtNorSummat01 · 19/11/2017 00:02

Not remote control, but Thomas Trackmaster is battery powered. You Switch it on and it goes. I haven't opened it yet as o got my son it for Christmas

We have that brio train. It's fairly simple and goes forward and back using a simple remote. My son is 3

ForgivenessIsDivine · 19/11/2017 07:32

I bought myself a lego one last year as it never made it onto my children's list, the DS2 who is 8, was a little jealous so asked for one for his birthday!!

redexpat · 19/11/2017 07:49

I came on to say brio and lidl.

Raindancer411 · 19/11/2017 07:55

He wasn’t on about the Thomas the tank one, rather than one on tracks, was he?

parrotonmyshoulder · 19/11/2017 08:01

There is loads of remote control stuff in Lidl this week - or there was yesterday. We have some with our brio track and they work really well.

Taytotots · 19/11/2017 08:07

We have the brio one - good and works with brio/Aldi/IKEA tracks. Also a bigger playmobile one - own tracks and can be loaded up which my son loved. Got ours on eBay www.amazon.co.uk/Playmobil-5258-Action-Control-Freight/dp/B0077QSSTU?tag=mumsnetforum-21

AlbusPercival · 19/11/2017 08:13

There is a remote control Thomas I have bought for DN. stocked by Amazon and smyths

Didiusfalco · 19/11/2017 08:16

I think Hornby do a junior one you can buy from Argos. Think it’s about £35.

Thebookswereherfriends · 19/11/2017 08:25

My dd has that remote control Thomas. It's a lot of fun.

AVeryBigHouse · 19/11/2017 09:52

Wow, thanks everyone! Ds still plays with his wooden train set almost everyday so I'll go for the Brio train I think 😊.

FusionChefGeoff · 19/11/2017 10:16

Mmmmm he’s a bit dismissive of the brio set and I think Thomas is a bit young for him.

There’s an AMAZING Lego set in John Lewis but is £235!!!!!

I’ll head to Lidl Today and see if they’ve still got them in ours. There’s 3 locally so I hope the odds are good!

Fusion, we got the basic Lego train for son for Xmas and he is 5

FusionChefGeoff · 19/11/2017 18:15

Is that cheaper than the big set?? Where did you find it?

OP posts:
FusionChefGeoff · 19/11/2017 20:18

Nothing in the 2 out of 3 Lidls I made it to today

OP posts:
Raindancer411 · 19/11/2017 20:34

Sorry Fusion, it was as the person below you posted. We got it on Argos 3 for 2 and it only worked out at £45.

FusionChefGeoff · 19/11/2017 22:24

God, this is going to be hard! He’s never asked for anything expensive before and that’s pretty much my budget for everything including our presents, other F.C. presents AND stockings! Going to trawl FB and see what comes up - eBay sets are only £5-10 cheaper - crazy

Raindancer411 · 20/11/2017 00:04

I shared the 3 for 2 over his birthday and Christmas to try and stretch the budget :(
