Anti-clutter present ideas on a budget

My mum is starting to declutter her very cluttered house. What can I buy her that won't add to the clutter? She doesn't really need anything and I can't afford any of the "normal" anti-clutter presents such as tickets or gift experiences. She doesn't use make up or perfume or jewelry.

We won't be seeing her over the winter as we are at opposite ends of the country but are otherwise fairly close so I want to get her something decent.

Are chocolates too dull? Last year (the first without my dad) I bought her the chocolates that dad used to. Turns out she's not that keen on them (but ate them anyway)!

I could do baking but she'll be at my brothers so he'll probably just eat them! Could do a big joint hamper for her, my brother and his family but that wouldn't really be for her would it?

Any ideas welcome!

How about a restaurant voucher ? Even if it's just £10/20 she could always top it up when she goes

It's really hard isn't it. Are you close? (Emotionally) You could do a 12 month 'JennyBlueWrenBookClub' - every month you post her a book (that you've already read) and a few weeks later phone her for a chat about it. You could prob download book club questions online to get an idea of where to start.

Then it's an experience present, but not ££££ - it is thoughtful, but doesn't need to = clutter as she can pass them to friend/charity shop after reading and chatting.

Doh sorry just reread OP and you already said you are close. So hope you like the idea x

Flower subscription?

tistheseason2bjolly · 18/11/2017 16:53

Oops, forgot to see budget. Maybe you could make a voucher yourself, which means you could once a month buy a nice bouquet of flowers from Lidl

A bird feeder is a great idea. I asked for one last year in the £10 family present swap and it gave me months of enjoyment. It’s just been scrubbed today ready to go back out now the weather has turned cold. You could get one of those metal spiral fat ball holders and a few fat balls for under £10, they go longer between refills too!

That’s a lovely idea paradise

That's a fantastic idea Paradise! We already swap books if we're on holiday together or when visiting each other and mostly our tastes are quite similar. Maybe I'll look for a good bookmark to give her with the first one. Something Christmas themed...
