Amazon Charge for Returns

Now that Amazon seem to be blanket refusing to refund price differences for their items over the last few months I have returned the item quickly and easily and ordered it again.

However when I have gone to do it just now for Lego thats dropped alot further it is trying to charge me £6 postage to return the item.
Has anyone else had this? I have prime and buy things constantly with them and have never came across this before Angry

It varies item by item.

Hi, I can't help with returns but Amazon have credited my account this morning by £10 as the Kindle I bought at the end of October is now £10 cheaper.

Maybe it depends which rep picks up the query? Have you asked them if they'll refund?

Frege · 17/11/2017 13:11

I always put "does not match description" (or however they phrase it) as my reason- free return every time. And as you're essentially saying that the product's not what you thought it was, who can naysay you?

Blink188 · 17/11/2017 13:35

Thanks I did just message them and they agreed to refund it free of charge. I spend a fortune with them so could'nt believe it.

I was just taken aback as I've done it loads before and never been an issue. Selecting not as described may be a good idea too!

Yes, I've had them do this since August. Right pain in the arse. They'll now only refund postage if it's faulty or clothes I think! I did have more luck on one return when I spoke to them on chat rather than through the returns centre and they actually refunded me £23 to send something back.

PinglePongle · 17/11/2017 21:43

Just change the reason code until it changes to free

tistheseason2bjolly · 18/11/2017 08:04

Depends on the reason for return.

I always tell them: Not suitable for purpose.

ShiftyMcGifty · 18/11/2017 08:16

Wait, you want them to pay for postage twice so you can get the same item a few pounds less?! They're not santa, you know. It costs them to ship to you.

Probably why they're clamping down - cheeky fuckery.

No store - none - is obligated to take back an item that isn't faulty and definitely not obligated to price match Angry

Correct answer. But then I guess the sort of person who buys from amazon, then wants free true s when an items price changes won’t give the slightest toss

NoWordForFluffy · 18/11/2017 08:26

Online retailers are obligated to take stuff back. You've 14 days to tell them you don't want it and 14 days thereafter to send the item(s) back. But...you often have to pay return postage yourself. The only exception is if it's faulty when the retailer pays.

However, some places do offer free returns on everything, but they don't have to. I'm sure Amazon has always charged for change of mind returns though, as is their right.

Good on Amazon, people who do this just bump of up the costs for everyone else courier wise.
