I have had enough of ‘stuff’ and I am going to give experience gifts as much as possible.

We are taking the DC to Harry Potter Film Studios, and we have got a voucher for a posh cream tea so far but there are lots of others I would like to get.

What are you doing?

I'm giving both dc a young drivers experience.

Mrsmadevans · 16/11/2017 20:25

Afternoon tea and dinner for 2
at local naice places lol

OuchBollocks · 16/11/2017 20:28

Last 2 years i bought my nephews snd pre teen cousins tickets to a trampoline park, they all enjoyed bouncing off the Christmas excesses. Probably do that again this year as they enjoy it and get plenty of Stuff.

blondiebonce · 16/11/2017 20:33

Got DD 3 tickets for Peppa Pig at the Theatre for about a month after Christmas to look forward to.

Considering comedy show tickets for DF.

Insomnibrat · 16/11/2017 20:34

Dinner and a journey on a steam train. Orient Express style, but not price!

PurpleStar123 · 16/11/2017 20:52

Insom, that sounds perfect for my parents but probably still out of budget this year. We got afternoon tea at The Ritz for them one year which they loved but that was pre dc and childcare bills!

None because I haven’t ever received one that I have used or wanted!
If the ones I had been bought were more user specific, great, but random ‘comedy night for 4’ and ‘chocolate making class’ only to be used on the third Tuesday of a month with an O in the month, valid for 3 months... have expired in a drawer.

PurpleStar I took my dad for a cream tea on a steam train for his birthday - it wasn't that expensive and went down an absolute treat. Its a volunteer run line, and all older chaps staffing it, when I mentioned it was his birthday they invited dad up into the front, gave him a full tour, lots of photos etc etc.

I'm thinking of taking teenage dd + my parents for a 'winter owl evening'this year at a stately home near by - includes dinner in the very nice restaurant, mulled wine, & then the owls flying in lantern lit woods. Not cheap but I think it will go down well both with my dps and with teenage dd, & its nice for them to have a Christmas outing all together now we've got a bit past the panto stage!

RebeccaBunch · 16/11/2017 21:02

Tickets to the Harry Potter magic exhibition @ British Library.

We always go to winter wonderland in Hyde Park and panties but I put those tickets in advent calendar.

Alicecooperslovechild · 16/11/2017 21:06

Sorry, Rebecca, I have to ask. Panties?

bluebellation · 16/11/2017 21:09

I'm thinking of getting DD and her BF a cheese & wine tasting evening. There are a couple of places near them that do it.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 16/11/2017 21:11

Panto tickets - but not because I decided it was a good present, more that it evolved. First I went with my girls, then I invited Dad and he enjoyed it. Then other family members wanted to come along and slowly it turned into me buying tickets for everyone - and having very little other Christmas shopping needed to be done. :)

The DDs are getting tickets to a show and a concert that they want to watch.

PurpleStar123 · 16/11/2017 21:12

Cake, I agree and I have had some that I have done the same with. However I do buy very carefully so I would generally pick a voucher for their fave treat restaurant that kind of thing, .

I got DP a supercar driving experience thingy. A few birthdays ago he knew he had a surprise day out for his present and got excited thinking it was a Ferrari driving thing, when it was actually a trip to the local brewery Grin He loved the Brewery and all, but it was no Ferrari so when I was musing what to go for this year that popped into my head. Wasn’t too crazy expensive as it was an offer, and I’d been sent a 25% off voucher from the buyagift site so got it through them.

I always used to get my mum something we’d do together - theatre trip usually, sometimes going to London and other times more local. I really miss that since she’s passed.

My best friend and I live at opposite ends of the country these days, so instead of presents we arrange a meet up in the middle - both train it and do a boozy lunch, maybe theatre or similar. This year we’ve booked an overnight with spa access and treatment as something to look forward to in Jan.

Rockhopper81 · 16/11/2017 21:27

I’ve bought my oldest nephews (13 and 12) a driving experience - it’s ‘Lightning McQueen’, which I’m kinda hoping they look past a little, as it’s actually 3 laps in a Mazda MX5 (which was the real appeal!). They’re at a really difficult age to buy for now, and they certainly don’t need anymore XBox games/points/paraphernalia from me, so jobs done!

reachforthestarseveryday · 17/11/2017 07:49

theatre tickets
zookeeper for a day experience
falconry experience
London boat trip
