Christmas

Is your tree up?

I usually put my tree up mid Dec but last year it was 01 Dec. However I am sick and tired of browsing in shops only to find that what I want to buy is already out of stock and there will be no more. It seems that people buy all their decorations in Sept and Oct.

I needed to do an inventory of what I have and needed to measure my tree for a skirt ready for a shopping trip tomorrow. I thought sod it, the boxes are out so lets get the tree up.

Anyone else got an early Christmas tree?

I really love Christmas, but we put our tree up about a week before, and take it down about a week after. Otherwise it's not a special occasion. My Sisters-in-Law started their Christmas shopping and going to themed Christmas events in October. WTF is wrong with them? Halloween and Guy Fawkes night hasn't even taken place. I refuse to join in with that, quite frankly! Xmas Smile

I'm a bit conflicted this year as I never put it up before December ((usually first week) but DP has his vasectomy the day before the weekend I was going to put it up. He's going to be next to useless so I'll be doing everything whilst he bemoans his decision so, I might be tempted by this weekend or the weekend after, depending on how busy we are Wink

Yes.

In the loft. Where it belongs in November. Grin

(I saw that on a meme on Facebook and have been dying to use it!)

That being said, I’ve done all my Christmas shopping and just have a couple of things to make, so I’m organised on that front.

Oh I can't be doing with Christmas Trees in November. We put ours up just after I've put the Turkey in and take it down straight after the Queens speech. All signs of Christmas are gone by 7pm so we can get back to a nice bit of depressing austerity.

Nope, it's still growing at the farm. Going to chop it down on the 16th.

I think I will do mines this weekend. My little boy is 4 months and is obsessed with lights so I’d like him to get the most of it. :)

Mine are going up next weekend. I've got a long slog at work after that and wanted to have the time to do it properly and have a good clean before. We have one tree outside, three downstairs and two in the kids bedrooms. Christmas overkill

We’re seeing Santa on the 9th December at the Garden Centre and will get our tree then. It’s been our tradition for 6 years.
I think November is much too early.

It's November for Christ's sake. Even 1st December is too early. People do buy stuff early thou. Last Christmas we needed some new lights mid December and our town had literally sold out of them.

You must be kidding!
Probably go up couple of days before Christmas, taken down before New Year.
I hate Christmas, can you tell? Years of having to work it finished off any joy about the festive season.

I love Christmas, and adore decorating the tree, but refuse to do it till mid-December. Otherwise it just looks like part of the furniture by the time christmas actually arrives. Not sure yet whether we will do it the 2nd or 3rd week of December, but certainly no earlier!

I have done most of my christmas shopping though Smile

No, it till mid December. Gets on my nerves as we have real trees and they shed their leaves

Yes - it's up! Up in the loft where it will be until mid-December!

Ours goes up 1st December. Although we may buy it the weekend before (so DH can help stuff it in the car) and put it in the garden.

We get a pot grown real one, and with the closest radiator turned off it lasts until New Year's Day inside, before it gets released back into the wild. We have yet to keep one alive to reuse the following year. It gets to August and dies because I forget to water it.

Not yet. First weekend in December here and taken down on New Year's Day.

I love Christmas and how snug our lounge is with the lights on round the window / tree lights. Plus it takes so long to decorate that I want the effort to be worthwhile!

Last year bought a new tree about this time. We put it together to make sure all the bits were there. Once up we decided to leave it as on its own it looked quite decorative. We quite enjoyed its look until about two weeks before Christmas when we decorated it.

When DP and I moved into our first flat together, for Christmas that year I put our tree up in November. About two weeks before Christmas, that poor little tree had not one single needle left on it. It was just like a huge naked twig thing adorned with baubles.

Never again!

All I've done for Christmas so far this year is reserve my supermarket home delivery slot!

Ho ho ho! Xmas Smile

Not for another three weeks. The novelty wears off if I do it too early.

Why would you want to put up a Christmas tree when it’s not yet Christmas? Our tree goes up about 10 days before Christmas and down on the morning of NewYears Eve so that there is plenty of space for that evenings party.
