What are you putting in your 6 year olds stocking?

Growing up I always had things like chocolate, sweets, socks etc in my stocking

DSD (almost 6) doesn't eat chocolate or sweets. We've got some paw patrol socks to stick in her stocking but we're stuck with what else to put in there.

What are you putting in / have you put in in the past?

Next you'll be saying it must have a lump of coal Hmm
As a child, my parents told me they used to get a lump of coal and a satsuma but they realise as adults it was a practical gift from parents that barely had any money, that sort of ended up a tradition. But there was no need to give us those things. And if I put a satsuma in my dc stocking they would just be confused. What's special about something that's always sitting in the fruit bowl anyway?

metalk yes stockings are put in bedrooms or just outside if you have a light sleeper, and that is filled only by Santa. If anything is too big to fit in the stocking, I just wrap in completely different paper (usually brown kraft) and put it next to the stocking.
Presents from us and everyone else under the tree, including big/expensive items, with tags from those people so it's clear. Santa can't afford to buy really expensive things for all the children, so they're usually not too expensive.

In our house the stockings (actually they are larger than i planned sacks) come from santa/fr Christmas, arrive on the bed and are filled with cheap gifts (though not necessarily small), or things like pants and socks and Pj's, which I would buy anyway, or things I think they need, but they are never going to ask for (more felt pens, bike lights, cushion for newly decorated bedroom, etc.)

They then have one or 2 (depending on price) main presents under the tree from mum and dad. Opened after dinner when daddy is back from work.

RidiculousDiversion · 12/11/2017 14:31

I aim to keep them busy:

  • something to read (it'll be Enid Blyton this year)
  • something to do (sticker dollies book, or football equivalent if I can find one)
  • something to play with (it'll be slime this year)
  • something to eat (ideally fiddly to unwrap so it takes longer)
  • something from Lush (to encourage a long, calm-down bath later)
Sheepasaurus · 12/11/2017 16:19

So far this year for my five year contract ld I have:

Paw patrol socks
Trolls pants
MLP toothbrush and toothpaste
Unicorn 'magic flannel'
Unicorn 'poo'
MLP foil wrapped chocolates

There will also be some sort of blind bag and always a satsuma.

In our house the stocking is just from santa. Mummy and daddy send santa money for the presents under the tree and He makes the final decision on what to bring :)
