I can’t do a stocking for the 5yo and not for the baby, can I?!

I mean, the 5yo would notice and be unimpressed with Father Christmas, I assume. He's very protective of the baby!

It’s just such a pain. The baby doesn’t need anything, and I don’t want to have to fill a stocking with lots of bits of baby-friendly tat when we have a whole house full of toys already from when the 5yo was smaller.

I can’t do it, can I? In which case, any suggestions for cheap/consumable/actually useful baby stocking fillers?

I’ve got the same issue, after reading this I’m going to start hiding some of the next size up clothes, dummies, muslims etc from my 9 year old so that when they appear in the stocking she won’t realise. I might add a bit of baby food in there too

A Christmas bib if big enough.

Bluebannana · 09/11/2017 22:31

When we were little we had to hang up one of our own socks, it didn't take much to fill a babies sock!

AvoidingDM · 09/11/2017 22:31

I've just noticed he's 5 months.
Weaning stuff, spoons, etc
Tomy eggs

sleepyowleyes · 09/11/2017 22:35

A Christmas outfit
Nappy cream
Sippy cup
Baby cutlery (even if you're doing BLW you will need spoons at some point - you can pre-load spoons when they get a bit bigger - but you probably know this!)

My twins got a couple of tubs of formula each from Santa their first Christmas. Baby food ready for weaning and some new weaning spoons and bowls because DS1s were all teethmarks (spoons) and pockmarked from being in the microwave (bowls). Some new muslins (because we needed them), some bigger clothes - some of which had come out of the loft and some of which I’d realised we’d need because for example DS1 was a winter baby and the twins were summer babies.
Oh, and weaning bibs. I bought them one toy each.

In fact, I asked DS1 what he wanted to buy them for Christmas and he bought them each a new pack of dummies!

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 09/11/2017 23:16

Definitely weaning stuff - couple of jars/goodies biscuits or whatever, new bibs, his own bowl and plate even? A book - you can never have too many. Job's a good'un!

Babies love those rainbow plastic garden windmill things that cost 99p but fill half a stocking and those Primark cuddly toys, bootees and socks, Organix jars and baby bath. Done in two shops for a tenner.

AvoidingDM · 09/11/2017 23:36

Oh I like that windmill idea!!!
Mine will be 1 on Christmas Eve so still a baby really.

PolarBearGoingSomewhere · 10/11/2017 07:59

Agree with PPs - I dug out.some next size up socks, vests to wrap and some toys that weren't out in the playroom. A special baby bubble bath, some sort of flashing light toy, a cup and bowl ready for weaning and job's a goodun.

Just get stuff you would buy for the baby anyway. Stuff like:
Dribble bibs
Dummy/teether
Weaning pouch - Ella's kitchen or similar
Talc
Baby wash
Baby shampoo
Nappy cream
Sponge
Cup
Toothbrush

I'll be doing a stocking for DD2 (will be 2 months) although it's less falling for us I guess as DS and DD1 are 8 and 10 so we have no baby stuff at all and we need things anyway. I'll just get a few bits like teething rings.

Cagliostro · 10/11/2017 15:11

Galling*

ihavetogoshoppingnow · 10/11/2017 16:00

Bubbles, bath toys, cutlery, bibs, banana toothbrush teether from Amazon, dummies, goodies do a baby selection box, socks, I’ve got DD her own little car because she loves DSs

eyebrowsonfleek · 10/11/2017 16:04

Toothbrush, bubble bath, bath toys ?
