Teen - which Iphone?

DS14 has an IPhone 5s which is on its last legs and he's making me feel stingy (which I mostly ignore) in not considering getting him an iPhone 6s as a replacement for Christmas. I was thinking along the lines of an iPhone SE!

To make it worse, I asked 2 (less well off) friends with similar aged teenage DC and both admitted that their DC had an iphone7 last year! So, if your DC are teens and are getting replacement smartphones for Christmas, what are you buying them? Otherwise, what do they currently own?

16 you dd wants an iPhone 6s plus. Has anyone seen any good deals recently?

Similar sort of guilt trip happening in my house op, DD14 has a 5s on its last legs and wants the 7 for Christmas. We’re more then happy to get her a new phone but maybe the 6s but she had made it very clear she would be disappointed with that, and feels she would still be lagging behind her friends.

We also can’t decide whether to buy whichever phone we decide on outright or contract.

DS12 recently got a SE for his birthday, wanted the 6s but we said way to much for a 12 yr old.

Most of my 2 teens friends all have an iPhone 6, no one wants the 7 and no one has an 8 yet. I bought mine one each from environphone, reconditioned for £200 each. I picked the ones with the best condition rating and they don't have a mark on them, look brand new. I have bt sim deals for them. One gets 20gb for £16pm and the gets 6gb for £11pm.

Both get unlimited calls and texts

My dd is getting a second hand SE for Christmas in rose gold. Unfortunately there will be no box with it which is a shame as it will look much better presented in one.
Does anybody still have their old box?
I will gladly pay postage.

What headphones can you use with the 7?!

Unless they could contribute no I wouldn’t get them an expensive handset. iPhone se or a Samsung 6 maybe

Apps you can use any headphones with the special jack that comes with the phone.

They come with EarPods with a Lightning connector. They also come with a 3.5 mm headphone jack to Lightning connector dongle, so you can use any headphones.

And of course you can use Bluetooth headphones.

Ds(12) has a iPhone 6 which we bought second hand and got a £10 month as part of our broadband package

Mine have a 7 and use the normal Apple earphones that come in the box.

We just bought DS an iPhone 5 off ebay for his birthday. No way would I be spending big bucks on a phone.

I've gotten DD16 an iPhone X for her birthday, it's backordered so she doesn't have it yet. I'm a single mum, don't have a huge amount of money and have budgeted for the payments. She's never had the "new" things, and she's beyond happy and excited. It might be stupid, but I wanted to do this for her. I never had the cool new things as a kid either, and it's made me happier giving her this than getting one myself.

I recently bought the SE.
Lady in Vodafone shop told me that it it basically the 6 but in the shape of a 5 and it came out after the 6 as there were a lot of complaints about the size of the 6.
The size is what sold it for me. I like the smaller ones.

Update : After being given the choice, DS(14) has opted for the iphone 6s and we got the Giff Gaff Black Friday deal He's paying for half of it out of his savings and we're paying for half of it as his Christmas present.

My DS 13 has the newest iPhone X. He pre-ordered it with his step mum and he got the fully upgraded version but then again he always gets the newest iPhone

We have just got the iPhone 7 for ds11

My 11 year old has an iPhone SE she got for her birthday, the one I was using before I upgraded. It's a fab phone and perfect for a child

My 10 year old wants a phone for this Christmas. I just got her an iPhone SE too on contract along side mine ( I have an iPhone 7plus)

I wouldn't buy an expensive iPhone like the 6/7/8 for a child until they are at least 16 and can look after it well.
