Hamper gifts for someone doing slimming world

tootsieglitterballs · 02/11/2017 09:08

Would like to do a gift box / hamper type thing of several small gifts (not necessarily food related) for MIL who has been on slimming world for the past few months.

She’s very strict about it and doesn’t really ever stray ‘off plan’ , she’s doing great on it.

It’s such a huge part of her / her life now.

Any suggestions of items we could get? I thought a nice shabby style chalkboard she can put her lbs lost / lbs to go on, a small pack of chocolates (she normally get a huge box of Thornton’s but know she won’t eat them this year!) , perhaps something nice for pampering , and now I’m stumped for ideas!

N.b - I don’t have time this year to make lots of little slimming world foods / chutneys / fudges etc as we are due DS2 in 3 weeks! Although it would have been great if we could!

The slimming world books in the works link are outdated. They follow the old red/green days plan. Waste of money.

Lidl/TKmax do fab small frying pans just the right size for one or two fried eggs I use mine all the time and sometimes a sort of bowl shaped mini frying pan that's really useful. If you can get to a group the journal is great it's £4.95. ( your local consultant's phone number will be on the website you could always ring and ask her if she will have one) I love silicone muffin cases and Ikea do an amazing heart shaped silicon cake 'tin' I make frittata and cakes in. I've got several unusual size and shape ones I use for all sorts. I think a 'hamper' of that sort of thing would be a great present. You can also get unusual options flavours like Turkish delight which can be hard to find I'd love it if my DiL put this thought into my gift what a lovely idea OP

Itslikerainonyourweddingday good job your here to help I thought twelve years of following plan and ten years in target was quite good I'll have to watch out for that fall, my group is heaving with successful members my longest serving target member just completed twentysix years at target should I tell her to just give up now?

StealingYourWiFi · 03/11/2017 20:44

There’s these diaries I’ve seen called Princess Planners (crappy name) but they have Slimming World/diet ones and they look fab!

Also JD seasonings mixes are lovely.

dizzygirl1 · 03/11/2017 20:45

Migraleve that is why I suggested going to a group to buy books!
Infinite Sheldon- great minds think alike 😉😉

Migraleve · 03/11/2017 20:48

dizzy I only mentioned it in case anyone didn't realise. I wasn't aiming it at you, not sure why you thought I may have been?

MyBrilliantDisguise · 03/11/2017 20:49

Don't you think chocolates can sabotage a diet?

MyBrilliantDisguise · 03/11/2017 20:49

Why not buy her something lovely to wear in her new smaller size?

tootsieglitterballs · 03/11/2017 21:11

Thanks for everyone’s suggestions here!

@MyBrilliantDisguise yes, chocolates would either put temptation in her way or they would sit untouched, hence why we have bought one of the small ‘6 chocolates’ packs of her favourite flavour from hotel chocolat - if she doesn’t eat them, it’s not a huge waste, and if she does, she can’t gorge on them!

OP posts:
MyBrilliantDisguise · 03/11/2017 21:16

But maybe she doesn't want to gorge on anything again. It can be quite a fragile time when you've lost weight and don't want to put it on again but are being tempted. Would you give a bottle of wine to someone who had a drink problem?

doris9034 · 03/11/2017 21:21

Not rtft so sorry if this has already been suggested, but last year I made pamper hampers for a few people. Nice bath / beauty items and a small bottle of fizz in one; another was a fluffy dressing gown, snuggly socks, candles etc. A hamper does not always have to be about food imo Smile

NorthernLurker · 03/11/2017 21:23

Smoked salmon is free.

Dh finds measuring spoons and a tiny set of electronic scales v helpful, so you can weigh your small amount of cheese without getting the big set out.

tootsieglitterballs · 03/11/2017 21:23

@MyBrilliantDisguise not sure if you have read the post / thread....

She normally gets a huge box of the Thornton’s that she loves every year.
Instead of getting her that, due to her diet, as we still want to put a little treat in for her, we have bought her a pack of 6 little chocolates in her favourite flavour. She cannot ‘gorge’ on 6 little chocolates even if she wanted to!

As I feel I have to go into a lot of detail for you, she treats herself every week after weigh in to a small chocolate or similar, and saves her syns for such things.

A carrot.
A lettuce leaf.
A grape.
Half a banana.
Some fry lite.
A few bags of pasta.
Some of that crinkly paper from card factory to bulk it out because obviously you can’t put lentils in a hamper!

tootsieglitterballs · 03/11/2017 22:24

@LolaTheDarkdestroyer I could just give her a hamper of dust, anyone dust....

OP posts:
LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 03/11/2017 23:31

Yep dust could work Smile

TheImprobableGirl · 04/11/2017 12:10

I think it’s a cracking idea tootsie
Slimming worlders tend to be quite evangelical, and I’d have loved a hamper of things whilst doing it! How about a subscription to the slimming world magazine?

Wishingandwaiting · 04/11/2017 12:13

Forget the hamper.
Instead a voucher for clothing store she likes and in card write “now your hard work has paid off, treat yourself to something that fits you!”

TheImprobableGirl · 04/11/2017 13:57

It might be worth posting in the slimming world section (in big/slim/whatever weight loss) as they will probably have more insight as a lot are doing the plan

Ollivander84 · 04/11/2017 14:01

Some seasonings and stuff on here
https://postedprotein.co.uk/collections/seasonings
Flavoured coffee/tea?

hashtagelfie · 05/11/2017 08:43

Not a hamper gift but if someone has been doing a diet and lost weight then an appointment with a personal shopper or house of colour would be a lovely gift.

GSG2599 · 28/09/2021 21:58

You could give proteinpackage.co.uk a try. All their pick and mixes of healthy snacks and supplements come gift wrapped in tissue paper :)

TheGirlWhoLived · 30/09/2021 23:32

Didn’t even realise this was a zombie thread until I saw MY OWN REPLY (I was theimprobablegirl back then) how strange!!

Feel like I’m in a time machine Grin

Cherryrainbow · 02/10/2021 22:17

A bit different - what about one of those law of attraction/goal setting type journals? One where she can track her goals, rewards, moods, daily habits, gratitude etc x
