Nursery presents

What are you all doing re parents at nursery? We were think a big box of chocolates and a card for all the staff. Should we doing something special for key worker? Or should we be doing individual gifts/cards for everyone? What about other children? I remember giving cards to everyone in the class when I was at school but is this still the done thing? What about at nursery? Obviously wouldn't give cards to just some children not others so it's whole nursery class of nothing.

Fuck. DD started nursery this year and I hadn't even thought of the bloody nursery staff

My youngest only left Nursery 15 months ago. I just used to give 3 bottles of wine that the Nursery staff put in a general pool.

Maybe a few cards for particular friends, but not presents.

I do a big box of chocolates or biscuits for everyone to share and a bottle of champagne for the key worker, except at our nursery it goes into a lotto so that everyone receives a present.

I’m not sure about cards, I don’t know all the children’s names so may just ask DD who she wants to send cards to and put them in their pigeon hole.

My ds is 3 and has been at nursery since 7mo. We do present for key worker (Usually £10-£15) and cards sent back to anyone who sends him one. Although only cards since last year, not while in baby room!

One giant card to all to display in class. And a selection of fresh cream cakes on the last day for the staff. .

We did chocolates for each of them and no cards.

Following with interest. Last year we got them a big box of chocolates, will probably do the same this year. DS doesn’t seem particularly close to his key worker, I don’t think it means that much at his nursery.

I tend to send in a tin of baked something for the staff in general, and a bottle of booze for the key person.

DC3's current key person has coeliacs so I tend to do her a GF bake instead.

My DD is an apprentice in a nursery. I think she would most like either something like Lindt Lindor balls or, if she was being given something directly, then a Lush bath bomb.

She doesn't have any key children yet, so I suspect she won't get anything direct to her, but if she did it would make her day, as she works very hard for

I don't give booze as a lot of the staff at ours are Muslim (probably at least 50%) I give keyworker an Amazon gift card, and 3 boxes of chocolates to share between themselves.

When DTS were at nursery we bought plain white mugs... Gave them Sharpie pens positioned them out of reach of each other and let them at the mugs...

Then chucked in oven for 20 minutes to seal in ,bought small bags of naice chocolates for each mug and fiver Costa card for both boys key workers.

I've do voluntary work with kids and while the gestures lovely, I hardly ever eat the chocolates etc and the amount can get ridiculous. I saw someone last year on a thread suggest a really nice basket of fruit so I'm thinking of that this year there have been loads of staff changes so dd2 isn't close to many of the staff yet. Key worker will get something personal though. Previously have got everyone Burt's bees lip balm / handcream little gift set they're outdoors so much in all weathers I figured they'd use them.

We tend to give a bottle of wine to each worker in the room.

OK, something else for my to do list DS started about 4 weeks ago, only 2 days a week, so I don't really know any of the parents and he doesn't talk about any of the other kids. Might go down the wine/chocolates to share route.

One of the Mums at our preschool organises a collection ($50 per family last year) and buys gift cards, much more appreciated than another box of chocolate or flowers

We did half a dozen £5 Costa gift cards cor the girls in her room. One of them mentioned it to me the other day as she'd really appreciated it.

I've done a few different things. One year I gave small bottles of Prosecco and mini panettones both the ladies who worked in DS's room, then last year I bought a posh chocolate advent calendar for the staff room at the start of December for everyone to share. There was only six staff in the nursery so they all had a few goes at opening it.
