Need help with dessert for Xmas dinner guest with multiple allergies/intolerances I know you can buy 'free from xxxx' desserts but would like him to have something home cooked, which at the same time can double as a non-Christmas pudding option for all Friend is a relatively regular guest, not just Christmas, so have done poached pears, baked fruits, coconut milk rice, meringues etc served with Swedish glacé ice - cream. Any new ideas appreciated please

The tart recipe uses breadcrumbs but you could make these with a gluten free bread.

Nigella's clementine cake is nice and both gf and df (as long as you use gf baking powder). You could probably make it a St Clements version or you could try experimenting with adding some spice?

tkband3 I’ve just copied your choc cake recipe. Can’t wait to bake this!

Another vote for trifle here! I make mine with amaretti biscuits (GF) and you could experiment with some dairy free custards, either home-made (coconut milk?) or shop-bought.

We were wheat, egg and dairy free due to allergies and never had an issue with baking. doves farm self raising flour and pure sunflower spread makes perfect substitutes.
how about baked Alaska with Swedish glace raspberry ice cream and basic sponge.
stolen with frozen gluten free filo pastry from supermarkets
Apple and Cinamon crumble

What about this with a different filling - a red berry fruity coulis type filling would work?

Goldenbuzzer · 16/10/2017 04:59

Also just be careful with some of the above suggestions - oat milk isn't gluten free etc.

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 16/10/2017 05:34

Nigella does a fabulous gluten free Venetian carrot cake that's also dairy free (although contains eggs) but it doesn't look like much.

Similarly, her date and marmalade Christmas cake is very good.

And I'm fairly sure her clementine cake is gluten and dairy free too.

Definitely worth having a look on her website.

Delia's Christmas pudding ice cream, you could replace the dairy

goose1964 · 16/10/2017 22:50

It's marinated dried fruit in ice-cream, not Christmas pudding in icecre

crumbsinthecutlerydrawer · 16/10/2017 22:57

I’ve made these before for Xmas pud for dd, without the rum. They may not be special enough though and no good if you need a veggie recipe.

Mulled wine sorbet

I do a very basic Victoria sponge-type cake with eggs, sugar and ground almonds. It would be absolutely fine as the basis of a boost fruity trifle.

So glad I posted this question - thank you all
