1.How big is your house?

  1. How big is your fridge?
millifiori · 14/10/2017 19:42

Wow, that's a massive, impressive list. But no sparkling wine? Or red, rose or white wine? I'd miss those.

I'd happlily skip half of the snack-treats and go for some good stilton instead. But sound slike you know what people love. I'm impressed you're cateirng 22 people. Not done that for a few years.

I always make sure we have some frozen pastry and some sausage meat in. Also, you have a shocking deficit of cheeses and pickled goods on that list... Shock

2014newme · 14/10/2017 19:45

My fridge would not accommodate all that fish and meat.
You missed out wine and champagne
Cheeses for cheeseboard?

28 people for 2 weeks will be very expensive!
You must have a ginormous house, we have a large house but 10 of us is my limit across 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms or it starts to get uncomfortable for seating and feels squashed.
I wouldn't have enough duvets!
Good luck it sounds hard work

2014newme · 14/10/2017 19:49

Just figured you are in Ireland from the shopping list!

NorthernLurker · 14/10/2017 19:51

Rennies Grin definately needed!

lizabes · 14/10/2017 19:58

Lordy Shock
We have a similar number for Christmas this year (about 16 kids/teens and 8 or 9 adults) but I’m trying to avoid thinking about all the food prep until Halloween Confused

Sparkletastic · 14/10/2017 20:00

Holy shit but where’s the wine??

summyb · 14/10/2017 20:48

LOL Guys, Sorry I forgot the wine!!! We're renting a lodge for the christmas holidays so my parents, boyfriend, siblings, nieces and nephews can all be together and then a few relations will be joining us, Not a lover of cheese us lot, so a bit of cheddar and philly will do us :)

Oh sweet god, i spelled viscounts wrong, Sorry ppl lol. Appologies :) :)

Normalserviceissuspended · 14/10/2017 21:01

No wine? A bit quantity over quality? (chocolates etc)

Why do you need stamps?

Therealjudgejudy · 14/10/2017 21:12

Gin, Champagne and lots of different cheese is what I want that's missing from your list

2014newme · 14/10/2017 21:27

Does the lodge fit 28 round the table and have 6 fridges?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/10/2017 21:39

dishwasher tablets .....you will have a dishwasher/two dishwashers hopefully Xmas Grin
washing up liquid for random stuff

some of those sealable boxes / foil ishes with lids for leftovers )or else you get people like my DDad who put things on a plate in the fridge )

JustTheWayYouAre · 14/10/2017 22:13

Maltesers.

Bloomed · 14/10/2017 22:15

How will you cook turnip?

torthecatlady · 15/10/2017 00:21

The only thing that could impress me more of your list, is if it was in alphabetical order! I can't remember if i saw washing up liquid and marigolds, (tea towels and oven gloves if you're renting a lodge maybe)

summyb · 26/11/2017 17:09

Guys...This list is for my families liking and taste, I made it because I will need everything on this list... I havent forgotten anything apart from washing up liquid and wine. Big Thank you to milliofiori and 70isaLimitNotaTarget for the reminder for the only two things that I forgot. I didnt forget anything else as I wont be buying anything else, it wont be eaten. All of the above are exactly what my family likes. Nobody in my family drinks gin, were not lovers of cheese so the cheddar and philly will do us just fine. Like I said I made the list for myself as a reminder and I shared it so that others could use it as a guideline and add more or less to their preference, please feel free, but No I definitely didnt forget anything else for myself apart from the wine and washing up liquid lol. So I dont appreciate some of the rude little digs and comments guys. Be nice to each other x

Also in reply to Bloomed, the turnip will be boiled til soft, then i like to add some seasoning, cream and a tiny bit of butter, mash it and bake in the oven, its delicious you should try it :)

And No Normalserviceissuspended thats a bit rude saying i have picked quantity over quality considering they are the things my large family like to eat at christmas and we don't buy crappy cheap quality meats and things either if that is what you are implying. You seem to have missed the amount of people that will be there for 2 weeks eating meals everyday so obviously I need a lot of food. Also stamps are needed to post christmas cards.

P.s the lodge sleeps 14 people and we booked two lodges side by side, there is a huge dining table and we will also be using another table extended onto the end of the main table......and for the kids we will be using a smaller table right next to the main one....for those wondering :)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/11/2017 17:17

I'll add in too (because I always take them if I go somewhere else and I'm cooking)

My own potato peeler ( I don't like other peoples' peelers)
Sharp knives - they may well have some good knives there but I take one

And scissors........ they always get lost or someone else swipes them.

goose1964 · 26/11/2017 19:19

Wow that is some list. What are taytos? And by turnip do you mean little white turnips or swede?

TheBlueMeaniesAreComing · 26/11/2017 20:05

Taytos are crisps/potato chips, depending on where you are from lol

what about some shleor/shloer for the kids? It’s not Christmas without the kids pretending to drink wine like the grown ups (I’m a big child and it’s not Christmas dinner if I’m not drinking it out of a wine glass pretending to be a grown up)

Jaffalong · 27/11/2017 10:06

summyb that's quite some list there, really impressed. I'm going to use it later on to form my own Tesco order, I've booked my delivery slot & have put a few items in the basket. I want to avoid going to the shops until after the new year so will sit down and have a think about what's needed. We're staying at mum's over Christmas & she's famous for leaving things off the list saying it's not needed and then needing it when the shops are closed. Confused Angry

CheesyFootballs · 27/11/2017 10:40

Are you Irish, OP? Taytos, Viscounts, Kimberleys and Mikados and Guinness remind me of childhood Christmases with my Irish parents Grin

NaomiFromMilkShake · 09/12/2019 21:03

Bumping because it is still valid.
