DH has bought himself a craft ale advent calendar (£35)

I'd like to treat myself to an unusual one to rival his, but don't know where to start. No gin, wine or cheese, as I'm not a fan. Anyone seen any unusual ones about please? Someone mentioned a Pringles one which looks fun...

@Brillenbar - for your (lovely sounding!) hot chocolate advent calendar, how about some of those little shaped sugar cubes (e.g. heart or similar) - NOTHS sell them or you could make your own using small chocolate mounds.

Alternatively, mini mug hangers are super cute - www.notonthehighstreet.com/yummylittlecakes/product/mini-gingerbread-house-mug-hanger

John lewis had a tea light one and I imagine there must be tea ones about if you like that. ...

ilikepinacoladas · 14/10/2017 18:29

Thank you very much, I will have a hunt!

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 14/10/2017 18:29

Is it this one?www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B075NMRMN3/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1508002494&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=craft+beer+advent+calendar&dpPl=1&dpID=61N2zC3qM3L&ref=plSrch

If so is £20 more online so he got a bargain! Could I ask which shop so I can see if there is one near me ?
Sorry for being a bother! My DH would love one!

Brillenbar · 14/10/2017 18:38

Thank you aquiver they look lovely! I also thought of putting in a few recipes so like a receipe for pumpkin spice hot chocolate with a little pot of spice or Nutella hot chocolate with a tiny pot of Nutella if I can find one (or some scooped out of a big jar)

LoudestRoar · 14/10/2017 19:18

It is that one, didn't realise he saved so much! I'm so sorry, I thought I'd updated where it was from, we got it in Costco. Not sure if vat needs to go on top....

For the hot chocolate calendar you could put a gift card from Costa/Cafe Nero etc for one of their Christmas drinks

Serin · 14/10/2017 19:30

@dataandspot they are exclusive to Tesco and will apparently be in store from 23rd October.

P1nkSparkles · 14/10/2017 21:00

I've done my DD a children's book one... but would actually love there to be an adult book/kindle version.

MedusaBadHairDay · 14/10/2017 21:05

I’ve seen a Yankee candle one, a jam/marmalade one and a tea bag one - might just get them all!

BroomstickOfLove · 14/10/2017 21:15

P1nkSparkles The Christmas Mystery by Jostein Gaardner is pretty much what you are looking for. A chapter a day over advent, each set on the appropriate date, with a lovely Christmassy story.

Aquiver · 14/10/2017 21:41

Fortnum and Mason’s do a pretty teabag (Tea Lovers) advent calendar.

Another suggestion for the hot chocolate calendar - if the compartments are big enough, some of those solid, stir-in chocolates (basically like a big chocolate lollipop, to stir into hot milk). My DH has bought some Choc-O-Lait brand ones. You can get them in lots of different flavours - milk / dark / tiramisu! Amazon sell them I believe.

P1nkSparkles · 14/10/2017 21:55

Ohh thanks @BroomstickOfLove

torthecatlady · 15/10/2017 00:30

Wasn't going to do one for my husband and I this year, but a hot choc one sounds good!

Notanothergiraffe · 15/10/2017 10:43

I had a l’occitane one last year. It was lovely to try lots of different things even though I am not that bothered about the whole style/beauty thing generally.

I love the idea of the pork scratchings one!

Brillenbar · 15/10/2017 13:14

Have just ordered the Christmas mystery sounds perfect for my middle child thank you!

Now I just need a way to do a gin calendar for dh without spending 3 figures .....
