When do you open your presents?

I do a stocking as mentioned on the Santa thread. Dd used to wake really early for that and we have always got up early anyway to let the dog out. Then we open presents after breakfast. So all the present opening is done pretty early.
I have a family member who does the stocking but makes her dc wait till after dinner, for main presents which seems ages, but I guess it spreads out the fun a bit.

We used to spread it out when I was a kid. Presents from Father Christmas/parents in our sacks in front of the fireplace were opened first thing after much whispering and peeking through the banisters pre-7am when we were allowed to wake parents . Then tree presents (from family and friends) after a late lunch. Worked really well as it meant there were two rounds of presents!

Any kids get stockings at an ungodly hour but the tree presents are after lunch so about four. Always done it like that since I was a child ... it means everybody enjoys it as there us no rush and nobody is stuck in the kitchen prepping dinner. It was never a problem for kids as their stockings had things to keep them amused.

DS 6yo opens his stocking on our bed around 8.30ish. Then we have breakfast, the good coffee and massive slices of panettone warmed slightly in the microwave (melts the butter, they are 90% butter cakes!).

Walk the dog as a family.

Showers and get dressed.

Open presents (we don't have 'Santa' presents, we and family buy, FC delivers).

Lunch is a relaxing mix of light but healthy stuff: soup, crusty bread, stocking chocolate. Then loads of toy-playing time and relaxing.

Christmas dinner is at 6 when it is dark and all the lights twinkle.

Then it is Christmas film time. Dog has one last walk with torches, then snack before bed for DS. We'll wash up , have a Baileys or something and get frisky under the tree Grin (same as Christmas Eve!).
