Just for fun really.🐒 To me it was always really proper, solid, kind of vintage dollhouse...😳 And never got even ordinary one.🤔😂

Sindy house (and Horse)

I went through the Kay's catalogue and added up all the Sindy stuff and gave it to my mum telling her she could pay it over £20 weeks GrinGrin

I didn't get any of it!

A doll's house with lights. My daughter got a huge one when she was three, but never played with it.

Imissmyboy · 07/10/2017 21:27

I always, always asked for a pony....a real one. Never got it, but did get a Sindy horse.
My dad made us an amazing dolls house, with working lights. My sister's grand daughter now plays with it ( it has recently been re-furnished).

Another one for mouse trap here, our family friends had it and I always wanted to play it when we saw them and remember my mum saying oh god I’m glad VioletBow doesn’t have that at home it’s such a pain to set up, so I never asked for it 😂 as a parent now I totally see why.

And I really wanted dressing up outfits like the Disney princesses ect but knew we just couldn’t afford them, both parents knew this and my dd has more dress up outfits than normal outfits now as a result of them now being much better off and it makes me so happy Smile

I always wanted a thunder cats castle but parents wouldn't oblige as it was for boys I ended up with suitable girls toys instead that I hated

CompletelyUnknown · 07/10/2017 21:37

I always wanted flashing trainers. I have a twin DB so the cost was too much for my DM and DD. My DD is just taking her first steps. Guess what she’ll be getting..

There was a doll called Pippa that I really wanted (1970s), my mum claimed not to be able to find her in the shops Hmm

My little girl started dance lessons when she was 2 Grin - she does enjoy it hugely though, we wouldn't persevere otherwise.

Always wanted dance lessons.

Mr Frosty ...the Cadbury dispenser ... Girls World head .... pretty much anything that was advertised on television or that featured prominently in mail order catalogs. My parents didn't like to buy plastic tat that would break shortly after Christmas, so I never got anything popular, instead I got wooden toys, books, a recorder ...

EggysMom · 07/10/2017 21:56

I had a Pippa doll. I wanted a Sindy, all my friends had Sindy.

A small pack of Berol felt-tip pens - they were the good quality ones we had at school. Every year I wrote them at the top of my list and every year I got a bumper pack of 30 Woolworths felt-tips that were mainly (a) dried up or (b) a yucky mustard colour Sad

I too came on here to say Mr Frosty! Also a soda stream, the chocolate dispenser, operation, game of life, speak and spell, Sinclair/commodore computer. From reading the thread it would seem quite common that 70s/80s parents shunned the commercial toys, I think they were relatively a lot more expensive compared to incomes in those days. My parents were reasonably well off but they often looked to buy second hand bikes, dolls houses etc

Justdontknow4321 · 08/10/2017 10:14

I also never got a mr frosty! Neither did my friend who's 4 years older then me!

I also never got a Annabelle cherrys all gone...

They were the only 2 things I can remember that I wanted and never got.

As a result I now ask my 6 year old to make her xmas list with whatever she wants the most at the top and even if I think it's utter tat I will buy it lol
