i used to use asda for home delivery but i mainly shop at aldi now. i was thinking about Christmas and how manic the supermarkets get and was debating whether to get the Christmas food shop delivered. i pick up our meat from our local butchers so thats not included in there. im a bit wary incase we dont get half the stuff i order though.
So, my question is, if you had your Christmas food shop delivered last year , which supermarket did you use and did you get everything you ordered

Tesco, on 22nd December. Near enough that stuff stays fresh, but far enough away that we have time to go and buy anything they don't have available on the delivery. Have never had a problem though - only time something didn't arrive, I'd forgotten to add it to the order. Also, all produce and meat, has always been excellent quality and very fresh.

Last year, Asda, I had a late slot and it also turned up very late, wasn't too bothered about that however half of my shopping was missing! Lots of phone calls, they were not interested at all. I listed everything that was missing and yet they did not refund me the whole amount. Bunged me £10 compo which still did not cover the things that hadn't arrived and stopped replying to my emails Angry dreadful service, would never use them again!

Yep Podge sounds like experience I had

PodgeBod · 01/10/2017 09:31

I'm sorry to hear that Graphista they don't seem to give two hoots about their customers at all.

Asda let me down at christmas a couple of years ago too - I never went back.

Graphista · 01/10/2017 18:21

Asda were shockingly bad and didn't give a shit even when I escalated to ceo's own complaints office

I would like to put in an ocado order but I don't yet know how many people are coming and what I will need....can I amend the order or cancel if I need to nearer the time?

BikeRunSki · 03/10/2017 07:59

Tesco, yes.
I have a delivery pass so I got priority slot booking about a month - 6 weeks before hand.
I also stocked up gradually in the preceding weeks.

I had an asda delivery on the 24th last year what was so bad I wrote on here & tweeted. It didn’t turn up till nearly 11 at night & had something like 50 subs!
I will be going in store to do it this year at Tesco.

BikeRunSki · 03/10/2017 08:01

Asda let me down in 2010 by delivering my order to someone with my address in a different town, 30 miles away, thereby forcing me into a store on Christmas Eve, with a baby. I have not darkened their doorstep since.

onadifferentplanet · 03/10/2017 08:11

I use Waitrose every Christmas, never had any issues and have also had some pretty amazing subs, I have already booked my slot for this year they have been open for a week or so now.

Taffeta · 03/10/2017 08:49

itshappening - yes you can just shove whatever in your basket - has to be minimum £90 at Xmas - and then amend or cancel usually up to the evening before

itshappening · 03/10/2017 09:27

thanks Taffeta

I add extra non-perishable items to my weekly online shop from the end of Oct onwards and store them away for Christmas. Around the 21st, I get an online delivery of any non-perishables left to buy and bakery items like mince pies, yule log etc that don't have a long shelf life. Then on the 23rd I only have to nip into Sainsbury's for fresh veg and a few other fresh bits. I go early and it takes me half an hour. I'm really not sure I could risk getting an online delivery for all the fresh stuff, and I shop online every week. I like to choose the best dates in store for the Christmas stuff so I can still use it on Boxing Day.

I had tesco last year on the 22nd and no substitutions of note. They did forget to leave one crate though and brought it a couple of hours later and sent me a £10 voucher to compensate. I will be doing the same this year.
