So this year due to a few large unexpected bills i have less than usually would have for christmas. Obviously i do not want my ds to go without so i was thinking of cutting back on other people such as parents etc. Ive brought crate of 6 posh wine so worth about £15 per bottle and going to give one to each couple but is that enough?? Or can you think of something cheap to go with?? Thanks

That sounds like a great idea. Maybe design a label with a funny photo or message to print off and stick over the original one, so it's a bit more personal, if that's something you worry about? I'd be delighted if someone got me a bottle of nice wine!

Yes, a bottle of wine is fine. If I knew someone was struggling, I wouldn't want them to get me anything.

You could get DS to make them all something homemade and edible like some biscuits or something, although only grandparents tend to appreciate stuff like that.

My cheap go to gift is Christmas socks. They are about £5 for 3 in Tesco.

You could make homemade sweets to go with the wine, most of them are super easy to do, look great and best of all are cheap to make. We've done peanut brittle, honeycomb and peppermint creams in the past.

How old is your lb. I think the wine is fine but you could also do a gift with him like make a salt dough decoration or cookies or we did a little canvas it was my lb hand or foot print then turned into xmas theme so mistle toes ect also hand like a reindeer. I know not everyone likes that kind of thing but they where a hit here

I bought a six month magazine subscription from Hearst magazines (lots of options- Good Housekeeping, Prima etc) for £6, also got £4.04 cash back from Top cash back, so cost less than £2! I think you can only claim cash back once and don't forget to cancel the direct debit (need 28 days notice I think) so it doesn't continue after the 6 months.

Totally agree, wine is perfect and DC making edible treats will top it off nicely.

Just tell people you are not spending much so that they know not to get you expensive presents. That way you won't have the guilt trip that is opening a fab present right after handing over a frugal, but perfectly good, gift.
