What can we do on Boxing Day and the 27th?

I had a missed miscarriage in July and 27th was supposed to be my due date. I'm worried I'll struggle so I want to make it a fun, busy day without DP and DD. Boxing Day we'll be at ILs for the afternoon and there will be a new baby in the family. Does anyone have any ideas of things we can do for the other part of the day? I just want to make it a happy memory rather than a reminder of how things could have been.

Sorry that should say with DP and DD, definitely not without! Blush

How much leave and money do you have? Spending the day travelling somewhere hot for New Year would be distracting!

Walk in a lovely park, maybe one with a nice playground for your dd...take some hot chocolate in a flask and some cookies. Winter picnic!

We went to the local zoo over year. It was cold but dry, so we just wrapped up warm. It was a lovely quiet day.

Yeah what areas? We're in the SE & my mum, step dad brother & sister book into a premier inn in Brighton for 2 days. They go ice skating, sale shopping in the lanes & pub lunches, long walks etc. They love it as it's just quality family time & they come back to a clean tidy house because no one has been there 👍🏻

I would book a night in a Premier Inn at the seaside and freeze our bums off on the beach/cliffs/coast path, back to room for hot showers and then off out to cosy pub for meal. More of the same the following day with maybe something child-based thrown in.

Sorry for your loss Flowers

A bit niche but I'm planning to book tickets to see the Last Jedi in imax 3D for 27th

DubiousCredentials · 22/09/2017 16:39

Or a proper hotel of course Blush

Thank you for the replies. Sorry I should have said, were in the south east and able to travel although I'm not sure how much we can spend. We have talked about booking somewhere but are we going to be too late now it's September, will it be extortionate? I like a lot of these ideas though Smile

Travel to a nice beach, lovely coastal walk then a pub lunch. Take wellies boots so your dd can still paddle. Take buckets and spades!
You can pack up some treats or go to an ice cream parlour.

It's definitely not too late. Hope you have a lovely Christmas and New Year mossy

outofmymind26 · 22/09/2017 17:36

No not too late. I think my family spend about £50 a night to stay at premier inn over 26/27. Whatever you choose have a lovely time with your family & I'm sorry for your loss Flowers

We've been to Colchester Zoo on Boxing Day before. Was lovely and very quiet. How about a day like that?
