Toys r us for the smaller kids
Amazon / Itunes for the teens
Cinema / Restaurant for the grown ups?

When I say everyone I mean outside of my household. So siblings, their kids, our folks, friends kids etc.

Voucher are great - much better than tat that isn't to your taste, takes up space and ends up in the bin. I'm not saying that's what you buy for others, but walking past racks of toiletry sets before Christmas makes my heart sink.

RatOnnaStick · 13/09/2017 22:51

Oh please do. I hope you're related to me. If so you are getting an Amazon voucher in return anyway Grin.

Wayfarersonbaby · 13/09/2017 22:57

For the last few years I have sworn each January that I'm going to do this the following year, but never quite dared. I've got a few young nieces and nephews who still want physical gifts. I dream of the day I can do all my Christmas shopping by just going into John Lewis with my credit card and ordering a gift voucher all round! Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 13/09/2017 23:35

I buy cinema vouchers for my niece and her DP and children. They love getting them - the cinema costs an absolute fortune for a family of 5 and it is a day out during the holidays when the weather may not be too good.

I'd be absolutely delighted with vouchers - Amazon or WoolWarehouse please Smile

isittheholidaysyet · 13/09/2017 23:38

Yes that's fine.
(The teens will be happy with cash! Don't even need to buy a voucher!)

PrincessPlod · 13/09/2017 23:41

I always ask for vouchers as they brilliant when the sales are on

WhatsThisNow · 13/09/2017 23:42

This is my fantasy! Like jetting off to Barbados on Boxing Day...I'll never do it.

Gingernaut · 13/09/2017 23:45

Why not just give people cash?

They can spend it how they like then and not just tied to one store.

I was told a a local Nationwide branch that birthdays are the main reason they keep £50 notes.

No local shop takes them round here, only the banks take them (if they're genuine).

abitoflight · 13/09/2017 23:47

Vote here for vouchers too
Garden vouchers too - those esp a treat to spend imo
My sister loves getting Debenhams vouchers from me at Xmas - she spends in sales in January and has bought fab coats at 70% off etc
Brother in law has had B and Q vouchers - happy as Larry
DD2 likes them for topshop/ river island

TheFaerieQueene · 13/09/2017 23:52

John Lewis vouchers are a staple in my family at Christmas. Easy to wrap too Grin

FinallyHere · 14/09/2017 06:37

Vouchers all the way (if you can't do a money transfer straight into a savings account)

Wrap them up disguised as a Christmas cracker, if you really want to have something to hand over, with the voucher inside.

MuddlingThroughLife · 14/09/2017 07:21

I personally wouldn't get small children vouchers but teens and adults definitely. I love receiving Amazon and M&S vouchers ☺ 🎗

Justabadwife · 14/09/2017 07:31

I told my friend yesterday that i was doing cash for xmas.
' Im not buying presents anymore! Kids can have cash and you can do what you like with it, either lets the kids buy - and destroy ---- more toys or you can save it for them- I'm not even buting the baby anything, cant buy one without the others, she can have cash too'

KakunaRattata · 14/09/2017 07:35

I wish I had the guts to do this, it feels a cop out, even though it's my idea of a perfect present and saves me returning shit

MrEBear · 14/09/2017 07:47

I'd do it for older kids or give cash that can be banked, or clubbed together to buy something bigger.
But if somebody started opting to get my young kids vouchers I'd be tempted to say "let's not bother exchanging gifts".

littlemagic · 14/09/2017 09:43

Am planning on doing the same thing but do you think of should get my sister and her partner separate vouchers like debenhams and a manly shop or get them a joint restaurant voucher for there favourite place?

FinallyHere · 14/09/2017 09:45

Joint restaurent voucher every time, for me. Great idea.

TableMirror · 14/09/2017 09:45

Amazon Prime everything, you never have to face the shops again!

Fekko · 14/09/2017 09:47

Vouchers are good (especially when you get them discounted!) or I hit group on type things - a meal, haircut, manicure, cinema tickets...

Also much easier to wrap and send!

Fekko · 14/09/2017 09:47

I hit? I get!

YessicaHaircut · 14/09/2017 09:53

Do it! I've got 3 cousins with 2 young kids each, aged between 2 and 5. Last Christmas I sent them all Amazon vouchers and they seemed to go down well - my cousins told me they bought toys/clothes for the kids and one of them put the vouchers towards an art table for them. May do cinema vouchers for the older ones this year.

FoofFighter · 14/09/2017 09:54

Vouchers far better than cash - if I get cash in a birthday card you can guarantee it won't get spent on the super relaxing nice treat my aunt intends it for, it'll pay school dinners, or the milkman etc.

eyebrowsonfleek · 14/09/2017 10:02

I'd love an Amazon voucher and so would all my kids. Do it!!!

hattiesmumm · 14/09/2017 10:02

My two would love vouchers! They are 7&9. Daughter loves Clare's, son likes the entertainer as it's cheaper than toys r us lol. Or Amazon is good!

Annwithnoe · 14/09/2017 13:52

Only thing I love more than vouchers is cold hard cash.
My granny used to send a fiver in a card every Christmas when I was a child and I loved it. Even getting my own card, and getting it in the post, made it super special.
