Three kids 7,5,2, stockings now done other than the magazine and the chocolate which I will buy nearer time. Yay. All have bdays within weeks of Christmas so I try to start early. Will post pics of the lists in a moment in case anyone wants ideas.

I do wrap stocking stuff just to prolong it as they have stockings in bed when they wake up.

I have finished for the dc too, just need to add in sweets and chocolate nearer the time.
Now everyone else and the actual big gifts!

TheWoollybacksWife · 03/09/2017 21:25

I wrap the stocking stuff in tissue paper. A different colour/design for each DC. I also use a different paper for each child for the main presents and store everything in bags with a name label on the bag so I don't have to label each present.

NoWordForFluffy · 03/09/2017 21:46

My stocking gifts are in tissue paper. And the bigger presents also have defined paper, so I'm with you on that one, Woolly!

TheWoollybacksWife · 03/09/2017 21:57

I've always wrapped everyone's presents in defined paper but started putting the labels on the bags when I was heavily pregnant with DS and wanted to make sure everyone got the right presents if I wasn't at home to sort it out.

I wrap stocking gifts in tissue paper too, sealed with stickers (that they've never seen before). To me, unwrapping a gift is half the fun. Everything in the stocking is from Santa, so it's very different to normal wrapping paper, which is for gifts from us and other family.

d270r0 · 03/09/2017 22:05

I have always wrapped mine in wrapping paper, well except for bits like the chocolate coins and satsumas. Tissue paper has never occurred to me- why do those who use tissue paper use it? Just for a change or for looks?

MY dc are still young so I also put bits for breakfast in there like cartons of apple juice and nutrigrain bars. As our main room with the tree and presents in is also where we eat and I don't think they'd concentrate for breakfast! So we get them to eat something upstairs after opening stockings before heading down.

@Leavingonajet can you please link to the Tsum Tsum advent calendar my 4 year old is mad for them!!

NoWordForFluffy · 04/09/2017 12:57

@d270r0, I use tissue paper as you don't have to be as neat as you do with normal wrapping paper, so the job is quicker (preventing wrapping fatigue!).

TheWoollybacksWife · 04/09/2017 13:04

Another good point about using tissue paper is that you need to use a couple of layers so that any identifiable features of the gift are obscured so it takes a bit longer to unwrap. For medium sized gifts it's just a case of folding a sheet, wrapping and sticking and for small gifts I cut a sheet in half or quarters and then fold, wrap and stick.

I use tissue paper for stockings because it's very different to wrapping paper, so it just adds to the Santa story. I never thought little kids would pick up on things like wrapping paper, but my DD saw me wrapping presents for her cousins and made a comment that it was the same paper I'd used for someone else. I could use completely different paper and hide it, but I just want it to subconsciously be totally different, and maybe more plausible, to extend the belief, if that makes sense. It's slightly easier and quicker to wrap tiny things or awkward shapes in tissue too, I just stock up in the sales, where they have packs for pennies.

My dd has Been mad Sharp on paper since tiny, had too source mine From shops she's never going to set foot in.
I also need too know what chips cup's areGrin I find stocking very hard for older dd who will be be 10 so already started too. I am however thrilled too find out the brilliant stocking filler store, flying 🐅 is opening up near me
. Brilliant place already seen fab hand held disco lights, perfect 3 quid each, some great silly moustaches, stuff like that. Pencils rubber's....last year's I got perspex tiny blocks with inscests in.

I have my stocking for my will be 5 at Christmas DS, more or less done. All either in the attic, ordered or planned out and waiting to be made.

Light up Star Wars ball
Ben 10 figures
Plush Ninja Turtles
Ninjago Airjitzu Flyer
4 Lego Block Tapes
Mini Groot in Pot
Disney book set
Ben 10 book
Dinosaur King Cards

And as I have a custom of making some of his stocking fillers at night during December. When I can put on my Elf hat and play Christmas music while I work surrounded by fairy lights. I have the bits and pieces I need to make a Firestar action figure and various animal incarnations of Beast Boy from Teen Titans (specifically the very cartoonish Teen Titans Go versions).

LadyTsunade · 16/09/2017 15:06

well done for getting the stockings done! i find it so hard to buy cheap (but not crap) stuff to go in them
