Crafty gifts to make with a toddler

Ok, ok, I know often crafty homemade tat is frowned upon. However I'm super broke this year, and my sister has said she wouldn't mind something made 'by' my 18 month old son.

Any ideas for anything I can make with him on a low budget but which isn't destined for a discrete binning?

Thanks!

How about a handprint ornament for her tree?

I love these ones though, obviously you'd have to do most of the painting! pin.it/45vxwWm

Chocolate jazzles
spread out sheet of grease proof paper/parchment. Turn it so it lies flat and doesn't curl up.
Melt chocolate in a bowl. Let it cool to a safe temperature.
Encourage toddler to spoon it onto parchment and spread around (it can help to draw a shape on the underside of the parchment as a rough guide)
Shake lots of hundreds& thousands sprinkles on floor, furniture, mums head and on chocolate.
Pop in fridge, or freezer, to harden.
Break into rough pieces.
Put in clear cellophane and tie a ribbon and a "made by" tag.

If you use good quality chocolate it's delicious and totally achievable even with a toddler.

I do think the handprint ornament is a decent option. I made a nice one with salt dough and painted with nail varnish.

I second something with handprints or footprints you can get easy to use ink free kits for a couple of £ from Amazon, mess free and worked for both my two, stuck them in a frame for Nana

Agree with the tree ornaments. We do salt dough or air drying clay handprints every year for ds's Grandmothers. Last year we did Snowman, this year it's going to be Christmas trees.

Or you could make a photo frame (or customise one you pick up in a charity shop or from Poundland etc), decorate it together and pop a family photo in.
