Is it too early to ask about stockings?

Who am I kidding, this is in Christmas.

Every year we have the same staples. Chocolate Orange, underwear, socks, magazine, toiletries. This year I want to avoid bulking them out with cheap plastic tat that gets forgotten about before we've even had breakfast so I'm looking for ideas. DS is 11 and DD is 7, thank you Smile

We go with under £2 items apart from odd item can be slightly over as long as whole thing isn't more than £20 (generally they are £10-15).

Boys will be 7&3 this yr

We have done

Wilko fake Lego at £1 a set
Polybag Lego set often £2 or £4 bogof in entertainer
Blind bags like playmobil
Socks
Chocolate coins
Lanka kade wooden animals (£1.50 small to £2.50 bigger)
Little books ds2 likes the peppa ones from poundshop
Hot wheels (pound shop or reduced in supermarket)

Keep an eye in supermarket sales as clearing bits ready for Xmas stock, got all the peppa pig soft stackables for £1.20 each in sainsburys will fill out ds2 stocking nicely.

I actually pic up bits throughout the yr that will be good for stocking.

We like the character boxers from sports direct can often get on clearance online during yr so add them if doing an order

Packets of fancy crisps are popular here and fill up a lot of space. Also boxes of tissues.

I generally do a puzzle/game type gift, last few years we've had:-
Rubik's cube
Slinky
Monopoly / cluedo mini card games

Also choose out of the following:
Book
Cd/DVD
Couple tubes jelly tots / fruit pastille etc.
Choc coins
Choc santa
Novelty socks / pants
Fancy / novelty pens / notebook
Model car / nail varnish (ds1/dd)
Gadget keyring/torch

Hot chocolate is a great idea, I got a small Freddo tub on offer in Tesco yesterday. Perfect for my DD's stocking.

Mine get a sack for Christmas, but it is mostly made up of consumables and things they need. They get 4 main presents which will be things they want...

Sacks include...

  • new stationery
  • huge box of chocolate cereal
  • big tub bubble gum
  • new underwear needed
  • new leggings (my girls live in leggings)
  • some tops to go with leggings
  • new set of reading books
  • cd
  • lush bath bomb
  • anything needed for room. Last year they had lamps.
  • favourite food treats like dried mango
  • selection box
  • things they need for hobbies like new gym shorts
  • new dressing gown / slippers when needed
  • board game
  • smellies like impulse
  • new earrings
  • earring backs (we're always in need of them!)
  • make up / smellies

Plus three things they ask FC for. Usually one is a decent present, the other two are cheaper.

Inthetropics · 31/08/2017 00:40

  • Small treats for our pets so we can give to them after breakfast
  • Stamps
  • Personal jar of olives (huge succes)
  • Set of thank you cards
  • crazy sun glasses (always fun ones)

I don't have children, though! Grin
