Anyone got any inspiration??

All the usual lego, lego and more lego is on the list but looking for more ideas.

Ds needs a new scooter so that's something.

I think he'd like a music system in his room but it's not quite a systole as the old CD player in our day and a copy of Now20something with the chart hits. Presumably now it's all iPods and docks or wireless Bluetooth speakers and an iPod....all of which is pretty expensive!!

Anyone else??

My DS has an Amazon Echo in his room and we downloaded various apps for it so he can ask Alexa to listen to a story or pop songs or whatever. It was £35 on Amazon Prime day. He also has a little boombox CD player and is happy with that too. His older brother has loads of gadgets in his room but he's more into that kind of thing.

shadowfiesta · 23/08/2017 21:35

That's an interesting though about the echo. We've got one in the kitchen which he loves asking it to play music and tell jokes. Can you put child restrictions on answer alexa gives??!

My ds is 8, he is hinting for a kindle (loves reading), and a skateboard.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 26/08/2017 21:43

Ha ha shadow ds1 turned 7 yesterday and yeop it was Lego, Lego and more Lego like a pig in shot he was, my dad brought him a second hand bike (really nice one) as he can't yet ride a bike, no interest if he can't build it out of Lego!!! He does do karate & cricket as well but loves Lego (we try to buy on offer when we see it)

ProseccoandPizza · 27/08/2017 01:18

DS is just turning 7. I've got on the list more lego things for his lego bedroom - lego pencils, lego pencil pot and lego piggy bank. Lego sets. iPod shuffle. Lego Dimensions sets. Umm you get the idea.

my ds are 8 and 5 and last year one of their main gifts was a joint football table, it also converts to air hockey and pool. theyve loved it and its played with regulary. im undecided this year though, theyve both got bikes and scooters, i was thinking about the ps4 vr but its really expensive so would need be a joint gift and its not reallysomething my 5 yr olď would make much use of

A1Sharon · 27/08/2017 19:04

My 5yo has really got in to Minecraft this year and plays it on the PS.

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 28/08/2017 10:46

DS was 7 this month and is having an ipad for Christmas.

It's to replace his clapped out kindle. It will be used for music/ games/ youtube/ sending emails to Grandma.

I was going to get him an ipod touch, but the ipad is not that much more expensive and solves more problems. The main one is sending emails, which he really likes to do, and the keypads on the kindle (and therefore the touch) are too small for him to use comfortably.

I'm thinking about Lego boost.

lorisparkle · 28/08/2017 14:28

Two of my ds are really into football so they have had football kits in previous years. Remote control cars etc have also been really popular.

Lowdoor - be wary of spending so much on a tablet for a 7yr old. My friend's 9yo DS literally cracked his on Boxing Day, and it caused a lot of tears and anger.

My 6yo has a Lenovo tablet from Argos - I honestly can't believe how good it is. It is easily on a par with DH's iPad in terms of what it can do etc. Obv you don't get the Apple apps on it, but it's an Android app so everything else is there if needed.

jakesmommy · 16/09/2017 17:59

My 7 year old son main present will be a blue laptop, which is what he has requested, I also have a Fingerling (request) and Five Nights at Freddy Jumpscare game for him.
Other ideas for him include:
Watch
Cheap camcorder
Heeley's
Virtual reality Jurassic World headset
Robo Alive Snake
Pokemon Guess
Minecraft Creeper hoodie
Nerf gun

Will probably end up getting most of these, he only receives gifts off us and my parents so I tend to buy a bit more

LadyTsunade · 16/09/2017 19:14

anything STEM related? science-y things/kits if you dont mind potential mess/helping out?

LadyTsunade · 16/09/2017 19:16

new sports equipment? comic subscription?

doze931 · 17/09/2017 10:29

My boys 7 & 5 are getting a razor riprider 360 and a 2ds xl each as main presents. Will get lego, football, few imaginext toys. Not buying a lot of small things this year

MrEBear · 18/09/2017 11:48

Mine is eyeing up more and more Lego.

Other ideas are a tablet, he mentioned heelies but dropped that idea in favour of more Lego.

I was eyeing up the Lego boost but he really needs a tablet first so think we'll keep that idea for another year.
