What are your five year olds playing with? Dd is five in October so have birthday and christmas to cover. So far I have got her a couple of lego sets, Moana and cinderella.

Puppy and kitty surprise are quite popular here, as are board games such as ker plunk etc. We got dd a Hatchimal for her fifth birthday after being begged for it for weeks, surprise suprise the novelty wore off and now it doesnt get played with.

Anything craft related always a winner though.

Hi, my daughter is 5 (due to turn 6 in Jan) and for Christmas this year, we will be buying her a balance scooter (the 2 wheel ones) and most probably, a Hatchimal (although I fear that will be a real waste of money). Currently, she enjoys scooting, drawing, playing on her tablet (we got her the amazon fire from John Lewis which is a real bargin) and for her 5th birthday, we bought her a body board and wet suit which she loved. Her birthday is in Jan so we always buy a couple of summer toys for her xx

I am getting my similar aged dd a cd player and wireless headphones for her bedroom. She loves to sing and dance so hopefully it will be well recieved!

DD will be 5 at christmas - she loves moana and paw patrol currently. Some hits on her birthday.

Busy books - currently loves the moana and trolls ones. Great value at £5 each. Includes 12 little figures and playmat inside a book.

Anything unicorn - tshirts, snow globe, cuddly toys, books she's obsessed!

Amazon fire tablet - has a strict time limit on it - I love the parental controls and the wide selection of free games. (Current favourites crossy road and kitty meow meow)

Nintendo ds - plays on her sisters so have got her her own 2ds for christmas. She likes warioware, nintendogs, I did it mum, sonic the hedgehog.

Art tray - its about £10 from argos and comes with loads of arts and crafts but she loves the tray it's been used daily for over a year - she does colouring, lego, has her snack on it if we are watching a film, plays with her figures. Well worth the money!

Mashems - great stocking filler she loves playing with them.

Hatchimal mini ones - little figures inside eggs you have to warm up to hatch.

Build a bear - loves going in there we have several bears makes a nice experience type gift if u have gift cards.

China tea set - loves a tea party with all the teddies!

Photo album with pictures of her as a baby - loves looking through them so this year will do her her own photo book.

Disney store mini animator cases - they do all different characters including moana (am buying for christmas) comes with the doll, their animal friend and accessories. She has tinkerbell, lilo, elsa and anna.

Games - she loves playing games. Some favourites game of life junior, bugs in the kitchen, monopoly junior, Camelion crunch.

If you are after a family type gift dd loves playing the wii (old one) she likes just dance juniors/disney, super smash bros, mario party, warioware. We play all those together as a family and all enjoy them!

Thanks for the suggestions. Thankfully she hasn't shown any interest in hatchimals. She wants a bushbaby, at least they are cheaper! .

She likes art and craft and we don't do enough. I have just ordered a load of pony and unicorn craft from baker Ross!

I think i will get her more moana things the busy book and will look at the animator sets. She likes her disney princess

Playmobil

Bazoo23 · 14/08/2017 11:43

Shopkins and My Little Pony are very popular with my DD and her friends.

nickdrakeslovechild · 14/08/2017 21:18

Last year we got my 5 year old a microphone and stand that plays music via a mp3 or phone. She really loves that along with Sylvanians and anything Barbie. Oh also smiggle or any pretty stationery.

Sosie91 · 15/08/2017 06:23

My DD will be 5 in December,
This is my current list to be split between both bday and Christmas.
*barbie sisters set
*barbie car (that seats 4)
*barbie house
*bike
*unicorn craft set
*our generation doll
*baby Annabel outfit
*monopoly junior
*cd and cd player
*tiny treasure cot
*make up set
*mermaid blanket

As you can see my dd loves dolls and Barbies xx

shakemysilliesout · 15/08/2017 06:27

Guess who is popular here and the magic tooth fairy game.

Big hit was taking pics of her favourite toy and getting a photo mug made of them.

BellaGoth · 15/08/2017 12:30

Watching with interest as DS will be 5 in January...

OP I'm guessing your DD is starting school in September? I'd hang fire on buying gifts for now as school is bound to influence her a bit? My DS is currently still in to paw patrol but I suspect it will fall by the wayside soon!

Lego and playmobil are safe bets for us.

flower11 · 15/08/2017 20:36

Yes I think school will influence her. They all seem to be into shop kind and all things collectable. I have brought her big girl lego as she has been playing with her little brothers duplo. I started the thread because I was worried about her toys being too babyish.

My 5yr old ds recently got magformers for his birthday and is loving them (as are his siblings, 6.5 and 2.5). They're a nice change from Lego.

Equimum · 15/08/2017 23:06

I would second Magformers. We bought DS1 (then, just turning 4) a set last Christmas. We have since added a remote control set and another basic set. He loves them, but so too does DS2 (nearly2), and au think they have a lot of play left in them.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 16/08/2017 11:51

As long as she likes them I wouldn't worry if they are babyish. My dd1 is nearly 9 and still plays with the happyland even though the box says 1.5-5 yrs. My dds haven't been overly influenced by school, they do like the keyrings on their bags (especially the ty beanie boo ones) and a new lunch box/bag in their favourite character. Character.com is good as they are pretty cheap and good quality 😀
