Ideas for mid 60s couple

I've made a good start on Christmas this year but really stuck with this particular couple.
They were friends of my mum so not especially close but always buy my daughter a lovely present and I like to get them something in return.
In the last 3 years I've bought them a candle in a jar, a planter for the garden and last year a savoury food hamper.
They've got lots of disposable income so I don't want to do vouchers. He still works full time and she looks after grandchildren during the week, hobbies are gardening and travelling.
I'd prefer a gift for them both rather than separate presents and budget is £20-30. Any help appreciated!

I was going to suggest a food hamper until i read it in your OP!! I'm getting them for all my GP's. They have a really nice afternoon tea hamper which has whiskey cakes and loads of other yummies in it. On amazon.

As a late 60's lady, love afternoon tea vouchers x

Thanks for all the suggestions. I was really hoping to avoid a food gift this year but thinking it might be the way to go.
Afternoon tea isn't really him and I know their daughter takes her quite often for special occasions so that's out. I also know I can't do any alcoholic drinks because she's on lots of medication that means she can't drink.
Off to google Betty's gifts and see what looks good

An olive tree

Laska5772 · 13/08/2017 22:27

solitary bees are great pollenators so your friends will like to encourage them into their garden . everything you need know about solitary bees

I am making a little gardening hamper for my friend this Christmas. Seeds for bee-friendly flowers, nice gloves, hand trowel and fork, an enamel mug, hand cream and mint and cucumber seeds so that she can grow her own G&T garnishes.

NancyJoan also had a great idea. An olive tree would be lovely, as would a lemon tree.

A nice bird feeder?

Pansythepotter · 14/08/2017 08:37

As a keen gardener of similar age, I would hate anything bought for my garden. If you dislike a household item it is easy to dispose. Olive trees, solar lights, bird feeders would fill me with dread.

I was bought a wooden planter from someone very close. It sits in my tiny garden tormenting me every day. It was bought with such love that I have to display it. To me it is like someone buying me a huge Victorian urn with an aspidastra, for my totally minimalist, modern living room.
