I haven't been, my DC are too old but very Xmas Envy at anyone who does go.

How are you going to present their invitations?

On their pillow (with the Christmas pyjamas)?
Hanging from the fireplace on a ribbon?
Delivered through the letterbox "Oh, did anyone hear that? "

Or get the dog to deliver them tucked under the collar?

And how long before the day ?
There's loads of online blogs , now the tickets are being prepped for sale.
And a good few threads on here . [.......

It's fab! Take lots of cash, you'll need. Switch off things like the weather app on your phone - my more clever than I realised 6 year old thought to check it to see where we really were. Take lots of photos. Please don't loudly talk through it like some of the adults there. Hope you have a great time.

Everyonelovessparkles · 02/07/2017 08:56

Thanks both.

Wow 70 I hadn't even thought about how to present their tickets. I didn't know about blogs either, will have a look for them.

flitter I think I bought some 'currency' with the tickets, how much do you think we will need? Our entry time is 1.30 so hopefully we won't need lunch, maybe just a drink and snack.

I'm quite excited about it and know DD (aged 5) will love it!

The snacks are quite expensive. I must admit we bought a meal just as somewhere to sit down and have a warm up. It kind of depends on what you want to buy, you could spend hundreds and I have to admit I got a bit fed up at how many extras were considering how much we paid for the tickets. I think we spent about seventy pounds, it may have been more. The meal was actually the most reasonable part and quite tasty! The expensive bits were things like reigndeer food, stuffed animals, cups of hot chocolate etc. Please don't be put off though, it was an amazing experience and we all really enjoyed it!

What is it like there? What is involved in the day? I have only read awful news stories about UK Lapland type events but this venue seems well liked. The website is under construction so I can't tell what is involved.

Flitter123 · 04/07/2017 15:10

It's great! Not a whole day, maybe half a day, 3-4hour type thing. It's mostly interactive theatre with about an hour in the elven village which involves ice-skating, shops cafe etc. I've been to another similar one locally which was admittedly much better value (still good) but no where near as slick or polished. The organisation and quality of scenery is amazing, as are the staff. The cheaper one was great in places but involved a lot more hanging around and bits were crap and dragged. I would compare Lapland uk to going to a west end theatre. It's a lot pricier but as a great one off treat you won't feel disappointed.

Everyonelovessparkles · 04/07/2017 15:15

Thanks. I was envisaging spending about £50 by the time you've bought a drink and snack for everyone, so that's ok.

pippa I haven't been before but it's meant to be very good. There's ice skating, decorating biscuits, a visit with Father Christmas and other activities. It's about a 3 hour tour / visit and you are moved along to the different activities by elves. It's in a wood that is decorated with snow etc and it's meant to be pretty. It's near Ascot. It's pretty expensive but I figured that the DC might not 'believe' for too long so it was worth a visit. Plus I love Christmas Smile

Op its our first time too this year so excited, I passed the wood where it is last year and I thought " wow this really is a lovely part of the wood" then I saw the sign, ' lapland uk deliveries' it sealed it for me.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 14/07/2017 22:51

It's our first and last trip this year.

Determined to get the most out of it as it costs a bloody fortune and I think this will be the last year dd (6) believes.

Loungingbutnotforlong · 17/07/2017 11:15

We went with dc 5 and 3- absolutely loved it! There is a story section/ gingerbread decorating with mrs Claus, helping the elves in the toy workshop- ice skating. Then meeting santa- I was a true believer anyway, but santa was incredible. The kids were like this Grin the whole day, and so were we! Enjoy!!!!

WreckTangled · 19/07/2017 19:34

We've been twice. The second time wasn't as magical as we knew what to expect it really is amazing though. We ate there both times and thought the food was reasonable. Then had hot chocolates whilst the dc and our dh's skated.

DontbeaDickaboutit · 18/08/2017 21:44

So excited for this, it's our first trip this year, probably our last! So expensive but worried this might be our last year with DS 6 believing!!! Any more tips?

helpme85 · 18/08/2017 21:46

I tried to book tickets but said not available until September? Have I missed out?

user1491508013 · 18/08/2017 21:53

My little one will be 20 months in December is that too young to go?

WreckTangled · 19/08/2017 09:00

More tickets will be released in September.

I think 20 months is too young for that amount of money to be honest. Unless you can afford to go every year then I would say optimum age is 4-7 Smile

LittleMousewithcloggson · 20/08/2017 20:03

We went year before last, it was incredible. Take a rucksack with a spare set of clothes. You can't go back to the car at any time once you're in the experience and the kids can get quite wet and cold ice skating. Take enough money to send a postcard at the Elf post office, for sweets and snacks and to buy a key or reindeer shoe (kids "make" them in the gorge there)
You get a chance to tell the elves more recent info before seeing Santa so take advantage of that on the day - my dd was amazed that he knew about the swimming badge she had got the evening before.
Take lots of photos!
For anyone still to book I would suggest a start time of 3.30/4 as the walk to santa is magical in the dark- the lights are beautiful.
You will love it

LittleMousewithcloggson · 20/08/2017 20:05

In the blacksmiths FORGE that should say!

WreckTangled · 20/08/2017 20:11

I agree 3:30/4 is the best time to book for Smile

FoddyWaddle · 20/08/2017 21:58

We went last christmas and It was truly amazing. We vooked the last slot of the day to make sure it was dark ect and to give us lots of time to get there. We didn't have time to eat in the village but we did have a hot choc and it was horrible! So I would recommend that. The sweet shop and the bauble shop are lovely and there are aome very reasonably priced things to buy. The post office is worth a visit. One of my boys then aged 8 was on the verge of not believing and he left a 100% believing.
